Just wondering if anyone uses a reclocker and what the views on jitter impact on system performance

Can you explain "reclocker",
Do you mean a word-clock or XO clock ?

Or am I missing something ?

I think using a word-clock is always better. (especially with the normal crystal in there, this isn't ment for audio)

I have build-in several clocks for friends of mine several years ago (LC-audio clock and tentlabs clock)

I find it very usefull

I was meaning a device like the Pace Car (for example) from Empirical Audio that uses uses a source clock signal and Superclock crystal to reduce jitter introduced earlier in the replay chain

It is my opinion that this is more complex for a "real" answer than something like "of course a reclocker is better". So, let's say indeed it is, but now you must wonder why you use or need it in the first place !

The answer indicating the complexity is : if the reclocker makes jitter worse, then it is no good to use it.

Yeah, that is what you thought. Bit now how to determine that !

The easy answer is : you will be using that in combination with USB, *because* USB contains a boatload of jitter.

And the response to that, again indicating the complexity is :

Don't use USB in the first place !

Lastly for now, the REAL answer is : if you need that, your DAC doesn't do it itself or doesn't contain the best jitter rejection features, hence isn't the best DAC out there.

It is better only if the clock in your source is worse than the reclocker Happy
It will never be THE BEST solution, which is an ultralow jitter master clock in the source near the dac, and everything else, if exist, slaved to it.
