Hi Josef. Thanks for this extensive feedback.
Btw, I interpreted your message about the Wallpaper (just changing) wrongly, and I read it did not show/change. So never mind that.
The other things ... weird. The services seem a kind of logic to me, and things (or names) could have changed in W7. For now this means : leave the OSD *off* so at least that will not degrade sound additionally (otherwise it would). However, since Unattended won't go at all, this isn't really helpful at this moment.
The UAC thing and drag-drop ... without being able to test myself right now (unless a dutch W7 RTM is available), please keep in mind how this works (not only with drag-drop, but that will be a first thing to notice) : The level of security must be equal for the sender (drag) and the receiver (drop) or the receiver must have a higher level. If not, it is not allowed to drop, and you will see a "stop" sign. Since you are getting this, I suppose that your general level (of login) now is lower than when an application is set as "start as admin". I guess you can test this (to get the grasp) by also starting Explorer as admin, and when it then still doesn't work, something must be wrong with W7.
With this "knowledge" you might be able to find the proper (combination) settings ? and anyway if you do, of course I will anticipate on it at further settings and/or advises to others.
What's happening at Unattened
might be about the same, although that is the most difficult to tell because of the numerous various settings for result files playing. To start off the most normal, it would be best to have normal .wav tracks without "unicode stuff" in the path and track name, no cue file and not "Copy to XX Drive by standard". In that case the original file will be played, and nothing is able to change security settings (or whatever is happening to you there). Then it should work, unless XXHighEnd won't be able to play the files itself (e.g. with Engine2). The latter not assumed, and hoping you will be able to play the files in that case, something must be going on again regardig UAC. However :
When XX plays Attended, I really wouldn't know what the real difference is (with Unattended) because XXEngine3 will run as separate in both cases, so actually the above is just something for an answer, that most probably won't do / help a thing.
Maybe (and I actually hope for that) you interpret things, say, wrongly ? A message "Starting Attended Playback" is not in the program, and possibly some log line tricks you because of the stage things are in and when it's put to the log file. On this matter, you might post such a(n XX) log file (as attachment please) and do the same for the withgoing X3 log file if it is there.
Also note that the really only thing to notice that Unattended works, is when XXHighEnd disappears, but it only does that when nothig else is (still) holding it. Could be long conversions (as you know
) but possibly some security thing is happening and hopefully I can see what's happening from the log file(s).
I am sorry this is happening right now, and in the end I only received reports all works (they are just in the forum). So that is why I didn't spend any time on it.
On this matter, can it be so that you are on some "uncommon for home users" domain ? I mean, the message you posted directs to something domain related, although it could be a very common message anyone can receive (but I never saw it before).
