All the CDs of Yello. It may not be your music, but if you can get hold of a CD, just grab it, rip it, and put the volume at some crazy level. This "music" contains : - Synthesizers. Don't let that scare you. Not this time.
It will unveil very interesting noises, or it just won't when things are wrong. - Very fresh highs. So fresh, that if something is wrong, it will GO wrong. You will hurt your ears then.
- Sub low in about everything. I think Flag is the only CD without it.
Might you have a subwoofer or two, you will notice that you can crank up the volume and *still* will have controlled lowwww bass.
Also, just watch your tube amp at controlling the bass. - Mail voices full of timbre (note that proper timbre is one of the harder things to achieve).
- In gerenal : room filling sound. So much, that you can't believe it's possible to play that loud without things going wrong for room anomalies.
- Very square hence dynamic rythm&pace sounds, only perceived with fast enough amplifiers.
- When it all works out, this "music" might glue you to your chair. If it even does when you don't like it, you'll sure know enough.
Now, I *know* when your playback chain is sort of okay, XXHighEnd will allow you to play this music with an SPL meter at the listening position with 90dB at the low end.  I also know, when the player is not XXHighEnd, it will just not work. In a very damped room, a bunch of basstraps added to it, maybe. Keep in mind : only with a nos-DAC, synthesizer music will workout as intended. |

A damn fine choice of music. I have 'Flag' and 'One Second' on vinyl. A good workout for your system I prefer Flag as it contains that fabulous track The Race, but note Peters comments above about bass.  |

Music on external hard drive with own power supply. Brains of the system is a Raspberry Pi running Moode Audio. The RPI has dedicated Longdog audio linear power supply.
Signal passes first to SW1X Signature USB to SPDIF converter
Then to SW1X Signature DAC
Then to Stevens and Billington TVC
Then to modified vintage triode amplifier
Then to open baffle speakers with vintage alnico drivers. Grundig tweeter, Saba Greencone midrange, Altec 416 VOTT base.
Everything is silver wired including mains and speaker cables

The album Touch has become my favorite album. Just buy/copy it!!
It is all there! Dynamics/bass/resolution/highs etc!!
My whole family likes this album (son(9) daughter(12) and wife(dont't ask for her age:-))
And together wit XXHIGHEND??????????? You know the answer already I believe. Just amazing!!

OH, YEAH Guys, Quite a resurrection from 3 years back ! But I still fall back on Yello when I want to check the "square" response. Some people may find Touch not a real Yello album, but the more I listen to it, the better I think it "Yello" is. It might be the best of all of them.  |

Hi Guys, Usually i only listen to classical music with some sidesteps to some Jazz and occasionally pop music. But running through some topics i read this 1 and got interested. I've listened all trhough the Touch album and it's quite impressive. Though i think the die-hard high volume sub bass lovers are best served. This music requires a very good hifi setup to controll the lower and lowest frequencies.  By a fresh Windows install i lost my activation code so i listened with Foobar2000. The sound was quite direct and natural with beautifull controlled bass. This morning with my new activation and listening the Touch album again with XXhighend the soundstage became really 3d, voices and instuments more natural. The music came to life...!! I decided percussion though sounded genuine were actually computer or synth based. I'm curious about some other Yello albums but for now i've enough. After the Yello experience this morning it was time to other experiences; Mahler symphony No.4, Conductor-Ivan Fischer, Orchestra- Budapest Festival Orchestra Mahler symphony No.8, conductor-Michael Tilson Thomas, Orchestra-San Francisco Symphony Orchestra Mozart-Don Giovanni, Conductor-Rene Jacobs, Orchestra-Freibruger Barockorchester (Listened only some arias) Tchaikovsky-Piano Trio in A minor op. 50, Lang,Repin,Maisky  |
