I need some help here.

I got my NOS1a upgraded to G3 about a month ago. I have been enjoying its sound which is really lively and full. But I also noticed some odd behaviour too.(not sure whether it has been there before since the upgraded G3 gives you everything so clearly that perhaps I am hearing some problem that is there before but not noticed before).

(1) There is occasionally some blurring in the highs usually in the left channel. It is like when you have some dust in your cartridge when you play LP. It usually occurs when there is a full orchestra playing loud passages.
(2) When I start to play the music again after stopping for a day or so the balance in the channels is not equal. The left channel is much louder than the right. Something like 70/30. I have to turn off the NOS1a G3 and restart then it goes back to normal.

I am not sure where is the problem? Hardware or software? I have ruled out problems in other components of my sound system because there is no problem of this sort when I use other sources and I have also changed the connecting XLR cables but the problem still persists. Could it be the RAM is not functioning properly? Or is there anywhere I need to clear some unnecessary files? Or is it because I am still using the xxHighend 2.06? How to update to 2.07?

Thanks for any guidance.

Hi,

I too have noticed, since the G3 upgrade, the centre image has moved by about 12/18 inches to the left. I had to reposition the R speaker to get the image in the centre.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Leung,

Do you *always* check your DC Offset ?
With the G3 upgrade it is more easy to have it off after a power cycle of anything in the chain. Not more easy than prior to the "a" upgrade, but with the "a" upgrade it hardly happened to be wrong. And you bought the "a" as your first, so maybe it is a lack of experience with this ?

If the DC Offset is wrong, then almost by guarantee it is in one channel more wrong than the other, and you will have this unbalance effect, up to clipping because there's no sufficient voltage on one side (plus or minus) for the demand.

Does this help you ?

Kind regards,
Peter
