Thank you Arvind. The only area the G3 lacks is a bit shy in the bass section. Fortunately with the Orelo's at my disposal this can be easily rectified. This is a bit hard to believe (the first part of it  ). I mean, if you judge this relative to the "old" NOS1a ... I rather have the idea that you possibly have to set more gain in the Orelo than the theoretical 6dB (you will understand what I am talking about). Not sure whether I mentioned it somewhere, but you can try the SFS of 0.90 and see what happens to your bass. With that I have Q3,4,5=1.

Hi Peter,
Sure will try out the SFS & Q settings.
It's possible based on Bert's suggestion I had increased the gain in the Hypex by 6dB. Maybe that was inadequate as I had to increase further 0.8dB. So you're right it's not apple to apple comparison.

With SFS 0.9 & Q345=1, there isn't a significant difference in the bass. If at all it's slightly softer.

I second Joachim's comments. The upgrade makes an already phenomenal DAC that much better. Ridiculously cheap at the price and a no brainer decision from a buyer's standpoint. Just add in the Lush with no increase in shipping and you're all set. Together, the G3 upgrade and the Lush, coming with the usual "built in" support from Peter, are the best deal in Audio.  |

UPGRADE TO G3 NOW!!!
I can only add to what has already been said. This is an amazing upgrade. Extraordinary detail and realism, astonishing dynamics, everything is balanced.
I noticed lyrics to lines used to be indistinct. All kinds of new ambient detail in live recordings, extreme reality in tone of instruments, attack, decay.
Exceeded all my expectations.

YES, 3G IS AN AMAZING UPGRADE!!!
I was not at home during the summer, so I had a two month break without listening to this high level of SQ. Coming back home I installed my 3G upgraded NOS1-a right a way. And the first impression was WOW!!! I never before had these great basses.
Soon I relaized all the incredible improvements of SQ in varous aspects:
higher precision, clearer soundstage, better basses, all together a significant fuller body of sound with higher precesion. Just great.
There is one point, which maybe was not mentioned before (I didn't read all the post though):
As I reported some months ago, I had kind of a instability of sound when running the NOS1-a for a longer time. After about 5 hours or so, the sound became imprecise and after a day or even more "smearing".
So I had to switch off and on my NOS1-a after a couple of hours to get the good SQ back again.
With the 3G UPGRADE THIS BEHAVIOUR IS GONE!
There is no need to switch it off and on frequently. It seems to be just the opposite: After switching off and on, the NOS1-a 3G need some minutes to deliver again its best.
3G IS A MUST!!!

I was thinking how to write down my experiences with the G3-upgrade, but when I read Richard’s post above there’s no need to. I completely agree with his words and maybe add one thing. Some albums kind of sound “new” or different compared to before. I had to check if I played the right album. It’s like the emphasis on some instruments is different that what I was used to. Hi Stanley, I guess that you finally ran into such a situation which I have been telling about a dozen times : you're quite sure you never heard the album before ("in this version"). Quite amazing eh ? So yes, I fully understand what you mean and assumed the change is for the better, you can nicely revisit all of your favourite albums the upcoming two years, waiting for the next upgrade. Haha.
