Edit December, 2016 : Because of Install Procedure changes,
this Tutorial is not applicable any more from of XXHighEnd version 2.07.
This Tutorial applies to the Windows 10 Insider Preview, build
10074 or higher and it requires XXHighEnd version
2.02 or higher.
See Title ... "first time" may mean not exactly that, but could imply an "as fresh as possible" for several reasons (yet to find out).
Side note : When you run into a
"Class not registered" error you are exactly at the right place with this Tutorial, because when things are not 100% right (hence have been done in the wreong sequence internally without you even knowing) then such error will be your share.
It is assumed that you have unplugged the Network Cable, because it is not allowed to let Windows apply updates to your preciously installed Windows 10 build. Some pre-measures, also thinking about you possibly doing a re-install of "parts". It is not said that the below sequence is the only one working, but at least this was tested and works :
- In Windows 10, no Dot-net 3.5 is installed by standard. In order to arrange for that (offline version assumed) look here :
Windows 8 Tutorials - Install .Net 3.5.
- If you have been running XXHighEnd previously on this computer (disk), Cause the UAC (User Account Control) to be at normal levels.
This means that you must set the slider to one of the higher levels
and reboot. If you did not run W10 before on this computer (disk) all will be fine as it is.
UAC can be located by means of Control Panel - User Accounts - Change User Account Control Settings.
- Cause the Phasure OSX to be uninstalled.
Do that in Control Panel, Programs and Features.
Note : this is not really necessary, but if you (for some reason) want all to be as fresh as possible, this step belongs to it.
Now all is as fresh as possible, and the below now counts for the very first run of XXHighEnd just the same :
- Find the XXHighEnd.exe in the folder where you installed XXHighEnd (not allowed to be in Program Files), and normally DoubleClick to run it (or rightclick - Open). (NOT "Run As Administrator" !).
Answer Yes to the question whether you want to run this app.
- A message will pop up telling you that a reboot is necessary to change UAC settings.
Answer with OK.
- After the reboot, again start XXHighEnd.
- Click OK to the question about installing the OCX.
And click Next etc. Just wait ...
In the end XXHighEnd should have been started and be visible on your screen.
- Set the few settings as asked for by XXHighEnd.
Do not start Unattended Playback yet (under the Play button there is an Unattnd button and it should NOT be active (must show blue led - not red).
If Windows Defender has not been stopped before, now it is the time to do that. Look here for that :
Shut off Windows Defender.
Do NOT think that you know a better way to do this, because you won't and it won't work either (no Unattended Playback will be possible).
Also, RightClick the Stop button and choose "Stop W10 Updates".If all is right a message will tell you that this has been arranged for ("Windows updates stopped" or something like that).
Now you can put in the Network Cable if you want, and go to the Activate section in XXHighEnd (also if you want) - see at the mouse arrow :
