In Windows 7 I installed XXHE 1.186a and activated it. All seemed OK, until I click on Settings (S) or when I try to Minimise. I then get the message "Something wrong at obtaining value 04". When I press "OK" I get the same message but with value 02. Next I get the message that it only can be corrected by rebooting. Rebooting brings back XXHE, but don't solve the problem described above. I think this is about XTweaks;
Set that to "No XTweaks" and try again.
Once all is stable try to reactivate it, because it just should work.
Notice that changing the type of XTweaks (like Ultimate, Off, Use Settings) can only be done under Normal OS.

Hi Peter,
Alas, this doesn't solve it.
I set to "No XTweaks" and reinstalled XXHE and reactivated. Same messages appear:
"Something wrong at obtaining value 04". Then
"Something wrong at obtaining value 02". Then
"Guid should contain 32 digits with 4 dashes" .. (see picture)

Hey Stanley, This doesn't make sense to me; You used W7 before, didn't you ? So what changed ? OS ? PC ? Once all is stable try to reactivate it, because it just should work. I think you interpreted this like "reactivate XXHE" and thus also "reinstall that". But that is resetting everything to the erroneous situation again. So I meant : Re-engage XTweaks (if you want of course) when all is stable. - Be in Normal OS Mode. - Set to No XWteaks. - Quit XXHighEnd. - Restart XXHighEnd no error should appear now (correct ??). Now you can try to re-engage it, but I wonder whether that will help - now looking at the error message. Regards, Peter |

There is something else, but I must do this by heart now :
After setting to No XTweaks and you quit XXHighEnd, look in your XX folder for a file XXAnalysis.dat. That is, I think it is there and if not it's in your XXData folder;
Rename that to XXAnalysis.daa or something and keep if for me for possible later jusdgment.
But possibly it is not there at all because the error occurs before it is made.
And another thing :
I vaguely recall that I received the same error, BUT I interpreted that as something wrong with the (.XXSI) settings file and in that occasion I kill XXHighEnd (TaskManager) to next restart it. Since this is not long ago it can very well be I had that when installing 1.186 on my own W7.
I am sure I did play with XTweaks settings, so it's not something general that doesn't work (anymore) for W7. After that I changed to "Ultimate" and anyway I only saw the error once.
When this was indeed the situation after my first startup of 1.186 under W7, then this is the sequence to follow :
(with the notice that in my last used settings I had "Use XTWeaks Settings", which also is the defaullt after an XXHE install)
- Start XXHighEnd.
- Message with the "04" comes up.
- Kill XXHighEnd through Taskmanager.
- Restart XXHighEnd.
No problem any more ?

I tried all the suggested actions but the messages keep appearing. Not when XXHE comes up, but when I press the Settings button. I found an "Analyses A.dat file and renamed that. Regards, Stanley

Ok. In your XX folder there's a NoXTweaks.tss file. Rename that to NoXTweaks.tst and tell me what happens.

Again the question : Didn't you use XTweaks previously under W7 ?
If you want to use XTweaks, you might want to rename that file to NoXTweaks.tss again (but first switch on Logging in XXHighEnd and quit), and post the XX logfile (others are not needed) from when you started XXHighEnd and clicked the Settings button (grab the log file when the first error messags is on screen).
Only if you want this, otherwise I'm fine with it !

I used XTweaks under W7, this summer I installed W8 and also used XTweaks, Now I reinstalled W7 (no dual boot) and run into these issues.

If you go into power options (the green battery icon in Control Panel) can you see something odd there ? I wouldn't know what, but from the program it looks like there is no "active power scheme".
On this matter, just go in the advanced settings and change something, save it, and of you like, change back and save.
Maybe this helps, I don't know ...
If this doesn't help, it looks like something is wrong in the Registry. Long shot, by I don't know of anything else at this moment.

Yes Peter, I changed several power option settings, restarted XXHE: problem remains. Then I changed the settings, rebooted and started XXHE: problems remains and Thn I repeated the process after I changed back the settings. |
