Hi Peter - I have downloaded v 1.186 installed and activated using my existing key. No problems everything is working fine (very fine indeed!!!!).
Just a small point is that the Letters at the top left of the XX GUI do not turn red in minimised. Are they still supposed to?

Paul, Yes ... (very fine indeed!!!!). So maybe not ? and activated using my existing key. Are you sure ? I mean, you asked for a couple in the past times ... Just a small point is that the Letters at the top left of the XX GUI do not turn red in minimised. But why do you say this so explicitly ? As if all is OK in Normal OS Mode ? Peter |

Everything seems to be OK because I went right through the activation process. I can minimise the OS and I can run XX in unattended mode.Always in the past it has not been possible to minimise the os and run in unattended unless the activation process worked correctly.
Should I reinstall from scratch do you think?

I experienced something similar yesterday, but I was so impatient that I concluded I was doing something wrong... The identification of the location (path) in the upper left was staying blue, but I could go in Minimized OS.
Then I asked for Activation after trying the 4-5 activation keys that I keep (...), but it was staying blue... With the latest activation, it turned red AFTER going in Minimize OS. Back in Normal OS, it stayed red also.
But I still suppose I was too "speedy" to do it correctly...

Well, did you encounter Playback stopping ?
Otherwise maybe send the XX, X3 and X3PB log files from a "play" situation ? maybe that tells me something. But it doesn't seem right to me ...
Nobody else experiencing this ?

A maybe related question :
Did you (or Alain) perhaps notice that Settings had all to be re-entered (hence were not preserved) which never has been necessary (were preserved) previously ? I mean, in the final minutes before uploading yesterday I saw such a thing myself and it seemed od to me.
So, did something went different from previous times ?

I experienced similar XXHighend 1.186 was Red so I thought it had activated automatically. But one setting I could not make was the Processor Cores, the drop down box was not active. I entered my activation code and then I could select Processor Cores but XXHighEnd turned blue. After resart (or maybe it was a reboot) XXHighEnd was Red again and all settings still available. Now all working fine so far.

I just switched into full OS and went through the activation process again using the same activation key. BUT in full OS when I had completed reactivation the red letters showed.
But then when I went into minimised mode there are no red letters - the xx path shows in blue. During the process of going back to minimised OS I lost the settings and had to re-enter them all.

Paul, I don't understand much of this. I mean, of the happenings; I really see no reason how you can loose settings at going to Minimized.
Maybe I can imagine something like firering up XXHighEnd for the first time (the 1.186 version), maybe also enter your Activation Code, and then without anything else go to Minimized OS Mode. But is that what you did ?

I entered my activation code and then I could select Processor Cores but XXHighEnd turned blue. After resart (or maybe it was a reboot) XXHighEnd was Red again and all settings still available. Now all working fine so far.
But Colin, The "fact" that a reboot is needed I don't recognize (won't do a thing). Mind you, this is prior to 1.186 and Paul's issue (which does look similar). But how odd are the chances that previously (0.9z.9b) you "needed" a reboot as well (or again) in order to receive those red letters ? I really really never have heard of that, and again, it is inexistent (with 1.186 I am not saying that). So ... Can't it be that you start XXHighEnd just 1 time too few in order to let activation work ? In that case a reboot so-called helps. But what really happens is that you start XXHighEnd that last necessary time afther that reboot. This is "no issue" of course, unless you are really experiencing (have experienced) the same as Paul (but some other way around). Strange ... |

A maybe related question :
Did you (or Alain) perhaps notice that Settings had all to be re-entered (hence were not preserved) which never has been necessary (were preserved) previously ? I mean, in the final minutes before uploading yesterday I saw such a thing myself and it seemed od to me.
So, did something went different from previous times ?

Ok, idea/hunch and maybe not even a too long shot :
You guys did something with XXHighEnd started from RAMDisk as a base. The scenario is a bit difficult to find for me, but it would be quite easy to use Alt-x to start XXHighEnd, end up in the wrong version and then go to Minimized.
I can't even tell what happens then, but it would be "unexpected".
Anyway, I fell in such a little pitfall maybe 20 times myself and especially prior to 1.186 that could lead to strange situations. Not so (much) with 1.186 because there your settings will be preserved (see "Copy Settings to" new setting) but still it is all a bit trickey. You can even have tried to Activate XXHighEnd started from RAMDisk, and possibly that isn't the best thing to try ...
Can I be right to some extend ?

Also : Did you run into the question : "If you have an XXData folder somewhere, click OK" ? And if so, did you click OK ? It is this area where I got quite confused myself yesterday, because of coincidences I saw *and* this question *and* the message "XXData folder has been created". This is not correct but I could not solve it other than extending the mentioned message which you may have read (and got totally confused). ?? PS: Actually this is addresed to those who did not run into problems, but sure had to re-enter all their settings. This should not have happened (I think) and is related to pointing to that XXData folder with in itself is related to whether you still used the default \XXData\ in the old version and ... too complicated.  |
