Hi all

I like to know your option about this:
Mine rig is a i7 2600, asus B75 mobo , 8 gb 2133MHZ , Silverstone Grandia GD06B and a HD5450 fanless card. I just bought this card for watching movies. Because i like the amd color in movies...

If i replace this for a AMD 6800K( just for the HD8670D because it has more gpucores and more GB/s) and ASRock FM2A75 PRO4-M.
Will this effect the soundquality?
I really have no idea.

The sound i have now is open, wide, stage en great stereo.
And i love it smile
My files are flac 16/44 and HD tracks 24/96.

Kind regards,
Michel

Hi Michel,

Maybe others have experience with this but I have the hunch that not many will be using AMD's. They have less cores (hyperthreading of the Intel's counted in) which are very useful for XXHighEnd.

There seems to be general consensus about the Extreme 4-M which fits in your case but I don't know whether that's the direction you want to go. Do notice though that any more modern processor deals with any movie easily these days, so it hardly can be about that.
The ASRock is highly tweakable and seems to do exactly what we guys want for SQ tweaks.

Another remark is NOT to have any GPUs on the processor. That only "influences" which we don't want. Otherwise, here too, any passively cooled 20 euro modern video card will play your movies. Whether with the right colour is up to you of course, so that is something to try out.

Not sure this is of much help, but at least I tried ...
Regards,
Peter

Hi Michael,

While I do not have the same motherboard as the one installed in the XXHE PC, the advantages in having the same components are many as each new tweak and XXHE implementation "should" have the same effect... This makes everything easier to share: ideas, discoveries, perceptions, etc... But of course, it does not mean that you absolutely need to have the same machine...

Alain

Yep, the IGP will be disabled and without a video card you will have no graphics Happy!

In my setup this wasn't a clear difference for the better, actually I preferred without it. But that was a long time ago. Maybe I should dig up the 20,- EUR card.

As a compromise you could lower the IGP clock to the minimal value.
