Finally got around to activating XXHE on Windows 8 64bit.
I cannot get it to boot into Minimise OS. There is a messgae that tells me it is not possible and to get in touch with Phasure.
Does this process require the Windows 7 Explorer patch? I have not done this as I do not own a Windows 7 64bit ISO.
Looking through the old posts there was another questions about the same issue where it seemed that the Activation had not been applied. In my case all seems well with my Activation status (I can change CPU Core Appointments etc).

Hey Mark,
Most 99.99% probably this is about a virus scanner, Windows Defender upfront. Just switch on your Logging (botom in Settings), try again and look for the "* error * message in the XX log file towards the bottom (log files emerge in the TemporaryData sub folder to your XX folder).
Btw, do not reboot while in this half-state; this might cause problems. So, when XXHighEnd shows the MinOS button now in red (meaning "I'm in Minimized OS"), better reboot into Normal OS first, no matter nothing happened.
If this is Windows 8 (which it is), then I know of a situation that Defender can't be shut off (or at least it is very hard and won't go by just telling it shouldn't be active). In that case it might be better to put (WinDefend) in the Services to Keep and the connected process in Processes to Keep (between () ).. Please look for the process name yourself, because I forgot it's name. Something with q's in it.

Thanks for the speedy response.
It seems Windows Defender is properly shutdown and I went through the Activation process again (having found the title bar was still showing in blue, so maybe not properly activated).
Now that is properly sorted - title bar text shows in red - Minimise OS seems to behave as it should.
I am currently downloading an ISO of W7 64bit Pro, so I can try to run the W7 shell. (only 2.5 hours more download time to go!!)

Well it was a slog, downloading the 64 bit W7 ISO but it was worth it.
Instant sonic upgrade when I got the W7 shell installed and substituted for the bloated W8 shell.
Very enjoyable now.
