I noticed that when I open a window prior to going into unattended, it stays while the music play.

Well, I know that several "standard" programs (like MyComputer) are bound to Explorer in Windows 8. And, Explorer is a kinf of special. So for example, if you put the Control Panel to the Taskbar, you can see that under this taskbar-icon several Windows programs open (you would say "hey, where is my Control Panal now ??".
Iin other words : I reckon that you shouldn't leave Windows programs open in general (because they may not close). But if it were for other normal programs ... they shoul close.
