Mass Tagging - tango.info ??

Maybe this is something to look into....

Tango.info

Example

It says every music album has a 14 digit number tagged in, that can not be removed.

Having that 14 digit tag, tango.info gives you all the info you want about an album, incl catalog nr, EAN, GTIN, TINP, Disc ID
which can be used to identify and tag albums thru Discogs, Amazon and using Google.

Giving you not only the right album but even the right album version.

With the nice option to mass tag all this info you'll ever neeed, right into your files.
This way it will even be possible to use extreme short folder names and use compare album options.


Maybe this way you only have to make a template for your remote,
receiving tags from your audio pc or as a gallery in your remote itself, instead of going online for each album.

While in principal I can see this new tagging method being useful to some extent, when I looked at tango.info website there was the merest drop in the ocean of artists covered, and they all appeared to be latin music (ie. tango) related. I just can't imagine it ever growing to the extent where is will be viable, such as Gracenote (formerly CDDB) now is.

Tango.info also appears to be a commercial site (as suggested by the support from advertisement), and I am usually dubious about using commercial sites to access databases. That is why I mainly use freedb.org when the need arises.

This is already 100% (waterproof) covered for in 0.9z-7.

You got me thinking ...
In combination with what I just said, we could be accessing eachother's data. Something like dropping your Gallery data in some general place and there all can be obtained from uniquely. Works the same as FreeDb but better.
