I recently use the version 0.9z-6, and I can't remotely access the pc where XX is running on with my laptop anymore (vice-versa worked well). That's a pity, now I can use my big screen only (connected to pc). Is this a normal consequence, or possible to fix?

Samda, I'd say this just needs the "Keep LAN Services" to be active. Or ?

(and of course don't complain that you don't want a LAN but do want the remore access Happy).

Also notice that there's still one quite major thig pending on this all, and this is about the "persistent" buttons. They don't work yet, and act "persistent" only. This means that you also can't bring up the LAN after playback, unless you reboot into the normal OS ...
But this is for the next version.

If this is all not what you meant (and also see Jonhan's link please), you will let know that undoubtedly ...

Hi,

I use version 0.9z-6. I have similar problem. After activate minmize OS and reboot system my lan is inactive.
If i click [keep lan active] it is not rebuild.
I deselect minimize os and reboot, after that i used keep Lan again.
After i returned to minmized OS lan didn't work.
I don't understand this lan button, because i am not able to recognize it is active or not. I am color blind (red green).
(I am able to recognize all other buttons: active or not).

The new version 0.9z-6 is extreme good, but my PC is in my cellar just under my dac and i need remote control. I use teamviewer.

Hi Chris, welcome here.

I only now realize that it will be convenient for people to see the current status of such a thing like the LAN being active or not. Or at least for new users that is. This is detectable of course, so I can do something about it. So, thanks for the hint (and sometimes I need those ...).

In the mean time it may be a matter of understanding, and not being fooled by what you see or not see;

The "persistent" buttons I talked about earlier are there to eventually let you choose how permanent one of the "shut off groups" will be. The LAN is the first prone to that.
In between lines, remember, the Persistent buttons don't work at this moment, and all is persistent at this time.
What does this mean ?

Well, that once you *first* don't tell the system to let the LAN remain active, it will be shut down persistently at Minimize OS. It's just not there anymore. This means that the LAN button can't work in that situation. And, would the Persistent button concerned be alive, you would make that LAN shutdown *not* persistent, meaning that it will be in the OS, but dormant. That will be the situation that you can activate it with the LAN button. Not now, not with these Persistent buttons not operable.

For you this means (I think) that you just should not shut down the LAN. BUT :

There's an in between solution;
Once you have rebooted in Minimize OS and the LAN still being active, at *that* time you can flip the "Keep LAN Services" button. So, don't keep the LAN services active. This means that it will shut down at playback (Unattended of course) and that it will be out of the way. Mind you, sort of, because having it removed from the OS is still better. But since you can't live without it (apparently) this is your way to go.

The above will mimic the "not persistent" situation, and all it requires is flipping the button after the OS is Minimized, but -of course- it must remain active in the first place. Thus, at the "Minimize OS reboot" it must be active, and after that you shut it down - which is postponed by the system until Unattended playback starts (click Play).

If you now (even during playback) click the LAN button, the LAN will come up again. Start Playback again after this, and it will shut down again ...

I hope this is clear and helps you !

Hi Peter,

first thank you for quick answer. But i still not understand.
You wrote:
"Once you have rebooted in Minimize OS and the LAN still being active"

First i have to understand following:
If i activate Minimize Os and i reboot (XXhighend is not active this time) i have no connection to network (network sign in task bar) is not available. If i click on sign in taskbar, i don't see any  network adapter. Is this normal in Minimize OS mode or not.
In other words, should my lan work after reboot?

Hi,

meanwhile i found that lan is active but network icon in taskbar shows, that network is not available.
If i open firefox, i will open websites. In my remote laptop teamviewer is not able to connect to my xxhe pc.
Therefore i have same problem as samda04 .
with minimized os, i am not able to connect to my xxhe pc.
With normal os i am able to connect to my xxhe pc.

Hi,

i find my problem. In minimize os the teamviewer program will not be started automatically. I started it by hand an now i am able to do a remote access, even in unattended mode.
I was confused by network ikon in taskbar. Sorry for confusion, but this will help maybe other user.

Thank you for sharing Chris. Some additional remarks from my side :

- A normal reboot won't change a thing to the state; only the Minimize OS button in XXHighEnd will.

- Laptops have not been worked out at all. Some things may work, others may not (also think WiFi).

- Eventhough the LAN button may activate the LAN again, this is as minimilistic as possible. This means that other PC's may not be able to find your audio PC and the other way around. However, when you have a ready driver letter for the connection, *that* will work (this doesn't need to "find" things).
Only booting into the Normal OS (remember, via XXHighEnd) will restore all to normal.

Hi Peter,

As I told earlier, I cannot access only with Remote Desktop control trying to connect from my laptop in Minimize OS mode. Connecting the other way, from my audio-pc to my laptop DO work. Of course, LAN is active and sharing drives are present and accessible in my network. Hopefully the Persistent function will fix the RD issue? Yes, I'm using Windows 7 SP1, but I think this should not be a problem while this is the actual and updated operating system, especially designed for XXHE...(are you tested it without SP1?)

Samda, this is a bit confusing for you by now, because of the other posters in this topic. Please look again in that topic JohanZ linked to. It is about *that*. This is not related to Minimize OS. Just RDC not working anymore after playback started because of a Windows bug.

But if you have a situation that where your means of playback is the exact same for both Normal and Minimized OS while what works in Normal does not in Minimized, I want to know. Please test this carefully, because mistakes are made easily here. For example, think about the LAN being shut off for Minimized which will never get on again, while in Normal it just will. So, *this* comparison would be a wrong one already.

When you are not shure how to compare, you can always do what you want, but tell me as precise as possible what you set and tested during your tests. Ok ?

Thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter,

I tested it, her are my conclusions:

Minimize OS = ON:

•   No INCOMING access both RDC or any other network activity
•   Network is visible, but not accessible (one way)
•   No difference use of button “Lan On” is switched on or off (which one actually IS on? Can’t see it clearly);
•   Also, the button “Keep on Lan services” makes no difference here.

Minimize OS = OFF

•   Normal access all network activities (incl RDC), also when running XX (not playing);
•   After started play while RDC is running, there is no problem at all. Connection will continued.
•   RECONNECT or connect AFTER activate “play” will failed, also when XX is turned off. Pc is just not connectable (or again), no (re)connect-error message will appear as it is in Minimize OS = on modus. Other Lan-services will keep on running normally. Only rebooting the pc will solve the RDC access.

Conclusion: maybe a bug in Windows 7 sp1 in relation with XXHE…Or a bug in XXHE in relation with W7 SP1? Because the problem with RDC is only related with XXHE-application.

Ok, thanks.
But it is no different from what that other topic (JohanZ linked to) already tells;
This is a W7 bug, and it happens when you apply a Processor Appointment Scheme. Set that to "Nothing" and the problem won't be there ...
(not that you should that, but anyway that "solves" the problem).

Peter

PS: The button "LAN On" has no state; Click it and the LAN will be reactivated *if* present at all (which it is not with Minimized and not activating "Keep LAN services"). It will always say "Done" though (which is not a smart thing on my side).

Thanks Peter, indeed without Processor Appointment Scheme re-connection will do, I have read what JohanZ's said, problem is nearly the same, indeed. In my opinion, as an end-user I see it as a bug in XX, cause the incompatibility with W7 SP1. But you are the specialist in here! Hopefully in next version, rdc will be fixed in Minimize OS on and off function.

Ok.
It is only that I might be able to work around this clear Win7 bug. But I have "always" to start working on it ...
