Hi Peter,

Thought I'd start a new thread as this topic was in a thread that was about something else. Anyway the file I sent you doesn't play in the new incarnation either.

I also have some other files that don't play. They give me different errors, something to do with the Dac settings. Changing the dac settings to the suggested doesn't solve anything. Again, these files play on different software same dac settings without a problem. I have XX on 2 computers and they both exhibit the same problem.

These files are test files, they play one sine wave at a time i.e., ten waves per file and are in lo-res mp3 format. I converted them to flac and wav just in case XX couldn't handle lo-res mp3 but that didn't make any difference.

You can download these files if you want to take a look at them from, never mind I can't remember the url for now so I attached one of the files; they're very small.

And by the way, I get the error fairly regularly, where XX tells me one or another of my dacs can't do such and such (such as, can't do KS or play a certain resolution) when of course it can and has done so when using other software. Why would this be?

Chris

... and are in lo-res mp3 format.

They are indeed.

8kbps @ 11.025KHz is well under the range I expect that XXHE has been designed to handle. Very early on in the development, XXHE wouldn't play anything under 128kbps MP3's and Peter adjusted that down a little to acommodate, but I think your samples are well outside that range. They are in mono also which has been known to trip up XXHE

I can't imagine any real benefit from having test signals at those sample rates. Revert to 128kbps or higher and you'll be OK I reckon.

Cheers,

Russ

As I said, I converted them to .wav so they would be "normal" files. They're so lo-res for download purposes and because they only play one tone; you don't want harmonics or anything complex in a test file that's meant to play one sine wave at time, and I'm certainly not using them for listening purposes.

Hi Chris,

Russ is still right of course; these files will never play, never mind your good intentions with them. 22050 is the lowest (even mono IIRC) and then you still have to Double hem or oherwise it's a no-go again.

Btw, can't test or do anything anyway for a while, since I'm travelling ...
