I have now used the HiFace for a while, and can play 16/44.1 with x2 upsampling but not x4. When I start playback, XX starts to play but there is no sound. I use 3 m Coax cable. My DAC is 24/192 - coax in. I have tried several SFS settings, but that make no differens. Can anyone help me?

PS! With x2 upsampling XX sounds very good  Happy

I have the same problem - even worse. With my Hiface and Stello DA200 DAC it is impossible to get sound with all files > 48khz (kernel streaming) .
I have tried XP, W7 and Vista, different machines, JRiver, Foobar and XXHighend.
I have not been able to get any sensible info from either supplier or producer. I guess there is a problem with the Hiface driver being incompatible with Stello. I'll wait for something superior to replace both Hiface and Stello. Meanwhile, the Hiface is banished to the drawer.

Can't you both proove it's the HiFace my means of using the motherboard's SPDIF-out ? You will probably need some special little jack plug (conversion to RCA), but it may help you greatly in nailing this down.

Btw, I don't think I heard that such a thing will be caused by the HiFace, but I guess it can.
If you have the opportunity to set your DAC's "hard" to 176.4, do so and retry.

Also, Engine#3 may make a difference.

You are right Peter - I have not been able to find anyone with the same problem - which I find quite puzzling.
Neither have I managed to find anyone using the same combination (Hiface/Stello) - in order to verify that it (the combination) could work successfully.

I could try what you suggest going direct from motherboard to Stello. It accepts up to 96khz on RCA - but I
don't think I can set it hard to 96khz in anyway(?).

I have tried though, and succeeded, playing hirez (ks) (88,2 and 96) by firewire to an external M-Audio Firewire 410 and then to the
Stello RCA. I can see from the FW410 that the correct sample rate is going through. But that might not prove that the hiface is the one to blame?

Also note: When using hiface/Stello - with all media players, I see that the files are being played and there are no error messages, just no sound.

I don't have the possibility to try this, but I know that my DAC is capabel to play 24/192 files. I did not say it is the HiFace that is the problem of no sound from 24/192 files. There is no problem with playing 24/96 files (or lower). Can it be that there is not enough memory? 1Gb on Ramdisk of 2 Gb total. Task manager shows that there are 1.97 Gb memory in use when i play 16/44.1 files with x2 AP.

To be (more) sure you could post the X3 log file of such a situation. But also you could look in TaskManager for XXEngine3.exe and see how much memory it occupies (should be a lot) and whether you see it using CPU cycles now and then.

Btw, the stupid thing is, I've heard of this before, but can't place it at this moment.
