Hi there.
I´m evaluating the player and think it beats everything out there. The problem is that this is the only reason i use windows on my mac. I have tried installing the player on crossover for mac but it´s not working. Not even an error message. Is there any remote plan to make mac version, or a working crossover version of the xxplayer?
I would pay more than the asking price for a solution. Besides, testing the amarra player for mac, and IMO the xx wins by a wide margin.

Hi Michael, thank you ! But sadly, no plans to make a version for the Mac. And the CrossOver ... I don't think it can work because either WASAPI or Kernel Streaming is too MS specific. Unless you tell me that e.g. Foobar works with either of these sound engines (so use the plugins concerned at trying ... NOT Direct Sound). In that case I see no reason (yet) not to get it going. The problem is that this is the only reason i use windows on my mac. But does that harm ? or maybe it's against ethics  Best regards, Peter |

Ok. Accepted. But given the rapit market share increase for the mac platform + market share with audiophiles (much higher) there should be a market for it.

Well, it's not that they don't reply fast ...
As far as I am now, WASAPI may be possible (that's Engine#3), but the study to find out that costs a $1000. After that ? nobody knows and maybe a "not possible at all" comes from it.
I have no probem with a $1000, but to throw it out because the next job costs 20K or it can't work at all ? I don't know ...

Yes I have heard the hype as well that the mac mini is the best for audio playback. But I took one guy who championed this to task and he was forced to admit a well designed windows machine would sound as good or maybe even better. The key here is well designed. The mac mini is a known quantity whereas widows machines vary considerably. I personally prefer windows - you simply have to ensure the computer store you deal with is on your wavelength and build one suitable for audio purposes - ie is silent and hopefully has a good power supply - preferably linear if you can get it. Mac minis don't have a linear supply though.
