Dear Peter, Hope you are well.

I continue to be impressed by the clarity and musicality of XXhighend. However I understand that there is one thing which bit-prefect replication cannot really address, and that is activity of the soundwaves in one's listening room (I am not sure if you have read Floyd Toole's book "Sound Reproduction: the Acoustics and Psychoacoustics of Loudspeakers and Rooms) and spatial effect.

Apart from repositioning the listener and speakers, some software solutions exist which process the audio signals to enhance or alter this effect. As an audiophile I inherently distrust signal processing but having auditioned the player, I have to say that I am very impressed by the depth of the staging and stereo image (especially of pianos and voices). In fact I would consider the slight degradation in quality caused by signal processing to be a valuable trade off if staging can be improved, but too much.

Which therefore leads me to my next question: Is it possible to incorporate DSP support for xxhighend, so that I can use the Audiophonic DSP to improve my stage but not lost too much fidelity?

Thanks for your input as ever.

Hi there !

This question has been asked more, and the answer so far is : The setup of everything allows this, but I didn't make it yet. Most convenient would be a "convolution" (which contains data on how to correct which frequency), which can be "merged" with the sound data in a preprocessing stage.

But as said, I didn't make that yet. May take a while too ! (first things first Happy).

Best regards,
Peter

PS: But I would never do that, already because I'm a believer of "no sweet spot" ...

PPS: Notice that solutions exist where you can already use it with XXHighEnd. It needs a soundcard which can loop back (like a Fireface) and the particular software. I forgot the name right now, but it has been talked about in this forum several times. I think at least Peddal uses it.

Yes there is a solution to connect XXhighend to the ambiophonic dsp, even 'virtually' (called virtual cable) which I am using, but having native support is always better imo.

Also like you I believe in no sweet spot, but good staging (or at least something remotely similar to a real performance environment) is something impossible to achieve in a simple stereo environment (without signal processing). unhappy

We can keep wishing.

One day I hope that you will find time to integrate multi-channel support too!

Thanks for the audiolense link too.
