Hi all,

after a full days of twaeking around and trying out dífferent settings I got this far:
- Performed nearly all tweaks from the "Tweak Vista dead" thread.
- XXHE runs pop and buffer error free with KS Adaptive (buffer 512) and Double with Anti-Imaging upsampling.

The latter is actually not entirely true, for some reason XXHE still comes with pops and gaps/dropouts occasionally and it seems that restarting XXHE solves it! Go figure.

But apart from many a question I still have, one more urgent and annoying thing I'd like to solve is the almost always switching tracks with a gap. As said, not always but almost every track switch. With so many parameters to "play" with I don't know where to start. Sometimes a track is not finished and it stops to start processing the next track, which sometimes never starts, giving a "Couldn't start engine #4 on time" message.

Can anyone give some hints as to what to try and configure better?

Another question, maybe related, I have a CPU throttling utility (CrystalCPUID) that throttles the CPU down when there is less activity (to keep power consumption lower). Is it advised not to throttle?

First of all I would never use that throttle thing, not knowing what it will cause. But this is not your issue I think;

As it seems to me you are using Anti Imaging Upsampling in order to get to 96KHz. You will be combining this (Anti Imaging) with Attended Playback. And, it is known (and told by me) that this isn't good for Gapless. Moral : use it in Unattended Mode, and you won't have the problem.

Another thing is :
It will be personal, but IMHO AI upsampling won't be a good thing used at an Oversampling DAC. So, you should be better off playing 44.1 natively.
If you really think 96 sounds better, then go ahead of course. But I don't think many people think that. Notice this is different from Arc Prediction ... but which you can't use (because your soundcard doesn't support 88.2 / 176.4). Moral on this one : get yourself a cheap Juli@. It may help with your other issue as well (after some time of playing things start to present pops). No guarantee on this one though, because it merely seems a "feature" of your PC (somehow).
