As I sold my beloved and expensive speakers for circumstantial reasons I felt in the need to buy "something" while I find other good speakers. It is strange how I could feel a sort of emptiness since I´ve been without music although only for a couple of weeks. Looking at the "holes" where my speakers were made me depressed, once in a while I made some routine gestures to play music realizing suddenly that there were nothing to play with. It has been many years listening and playing with the sound every day...Finally the other day I decided to look for something to fix this situation. As I wanted to spend as less as possible I looked on the cheap second hand market and what I found is a miraculous speaker that made me not only forget my sorrows but to be happy enough to enjoy this time, a time while I get some other first class speakers. This speaker is the Behringer Truth B2031A, it is a near-field auto amplified speaker but I´m using them in the same position where the other big speakers were (see pic) and the results are amazing, big sound-stage, clear voices, great bass, smooth treble, full sound. In other words if you are in a budget and need some speakers and you have a laptop (with XXHighEnd of course ;-)) go ahead and buy them, I paid 200€ for a nice second hand pair. Or if you want something to put in a budget system try them. You won´t regret. It makes me think also how good is our XXHighEnd and of course the Phasure NOS1 that I´m using in this set-up (and in any other that could come) http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/B2031A.aspxThe Spectron monoblocks that can be seen in the pic are disconnected and by the way are for sale also, just in case... Do you see the Ikea racks where the speakers are?, they are great too and cheap. Regards, Juan

The Behringer active monitors are excellent value. I've just sold some with an active sub which was my kids system. It survived parties and some of the most terrible music available today!!!!
There is a lot in favour of going down the active speaker route. Most pro studios use active monitors. The amplifiers are made to match the driver and are more efficient. You can buy excellent quality at a moderate price not the inflated so called "Hi-End" pricing. They are built to a specification standard something a lot of Hi-fi manufacturers don't use or care about.
If you go to surround speaker setup you can buy 5 speakers all the same.
Certainly in the future I would consider this option if I was upgrading or down. Check the Finish Genelecs out for example.
The source is critical and certainly helps when feeding lesser products.

Hi Peter, the TV?, I bought it to watch the last soccer World Cup and I´m keeping it for the next one in Brasil hahaha. Do you know with whom play Spain the first match, don´t you?. Good luck my friend. Seriously, I appreciate you are happy for me, I know it's a sincere feeling. The Behringer are a fantastic surprise for me at this moment. The advantage is also for sure the matched auto-amplification, as you say. I heard about the Genelecs but never had the opportunity to listen to them, if they are as good as the people say they could make a perfect system in some circumstances. Best regards, Juan

Minnow ? That should be us Anthony. It is really funny; wherever we go for countries in the world, it is always Holland with their best football players as a first subject. Maybe that is true for the players, but for a "team" as such ? I stopped seeing that since 1988. I, personally - but I don't think I'm alone - see the Dutch football playing as one big embarassment. Big mouth. I'm as far as hoping that Australia wins from Holland in that pool. If in the mean time Holland wins from Spain it would proove the mentality we're dealing with here. Still we're always blasting the neighbourhood with our tooters. Against all odds. Let's vote for Chile. Peter
