1  Ultimate Audio Playback / Chatter and forum related stuff / Re: A few more thoughts on an unpleasant subject on: March 06, 2011, 07:49:54 am
Boleary,

I think you misunderstood things here. The reason behind me not taking part in discussions anymore is because I hardly use XXHighEnd. If my posts regarding tweaks etc make you feel uncomfortable or sth, then why haven't you told me about this? My tweaks were experimental and directed to advanced users. I don't think anything could go wrong if applied correctly. I think that you should ask Peter, why we (Marcin, Josef) appeared on the black list so suddenly. Note that few months ago when our, currently regarded as 'controversial', posts appeared, nobody knew they were controversial and Peter never wrote about this in public. So if Peter deleted our posts after few months it would have been inconsistent IMHO. But if you (boleary and the rest) feel they're harmful then I may ask Peter to delete my account with all my posts. It would be a shame though as there may be many useful amongst them. And about Josef, if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have straight continuos in XXHE, at least not now, so maybe a bit of gratitude instead of complaining?

Hi guys,

Personally I wouldn't go with this 'old' equipment. I'd wait for Vertex 3 Pro, that's going to be released soon:

Look at the specs and first benchmarks Happy

Mani, thanks for the review. You could have both at the same time - realism and pleasure. The first one doesn't exclude the second one.

Hi gonzalito!

Thanks for bringing this up. I'm gonna try it as well as EVS ground enhancers.

Hi Bert,

Thanks for sharing. Anyone else made that kind of comparison - hdd vs sdd with W7 sp1?

Regards,
Marcin

Peter, do you have any logical explanation why HDD could be better choice as a OS base? I don't see one, especially that SSD is two times faster, 100x times better access time and draws lot less power.

Adrian, your DAC must be jitter-resistant if you're saying that there is a small difference between W7 and W7 Sp1 or you have to have sth wrong in your system. I don't even need to listen to it, the difference is so obvious.

It's impossible to squeeze good SQ with a single core IMHO and IRQ affinity settings are crucial, very easy to overdo and ruin everything so it needs many hours of dull A/B testing, but it's worth.

Cheers,
Marcin

My headphones 'disappeared' on my head, sounds coming from all directions with great depth. There is nothing a bit wrong or 'kind of wrong' in the sound. (Beyerdynamic T1 /w RSA Apache + RME-AES32 and dCS Elgar Plus) I never thought that dCS could sound so musical and silky smooth. Remember my post from 2 months - I couldn't stand its dry, mechanical manner.

Windows X, one more time, refer to my post and ask yourself if you have everything totally under control...

I hope you  believe me now and I'll write this one more time - SP1 is just the beginning and I'd say that it gives about 50% of overall SQ possible. (100% is my reference with everything tuned, re-checked on 2 PCs). I guess it's hard to believe, but I'm very confident that's the case Happy

For me it's just less jittery and makes sound more enjoyable due to lack of sharp edges, which, I believe, nobody likes. Listening to anything else is very frustrating for me at the moment.

It's definitely better, enjoy Happy

OK. I'm looking forward to your findings about SP1 than.

I encourage everyone to insatll SP1 RC1 on W7. The sound is a million times better and I'm sure that there's someone to back me up on this at the moment. But that's just the tip of the iceberg Happy

I guess nobody can be 'smarter' than you on this board, but I'm not trying to be! I'm just very confident, because my ears 'are telling me so' and I want you all to benefit from it too. Gosh... Why would I want to start discussion anyway? I've learned so much here and I'm very grateful to you and everyone else for great support. Maybe you'll change your mind once you lay hands on SP1 and start to believe in my words.

Kind regards,
Marcin

There's nothing wrong with me. Install SP1 and write your findings about SQ again. I'm sure they would be quite different as the SP1 boost SQ a lot, like a loooot. It's a piece of advice, nothing more. I don't see anything wrong with it, do you? Maybe you're trying to find sth wrong with my attitude, but I don't mean to be rude Happy

Cheers,
Marcin
