Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XXAnalysis.dat

Hi Mani,
I played with the signal voltage setting found that the Lavry was impartial to either setting. It seems the Lavry was designed to take in both "professional" and "consumer." I keep it at professional since my Lavry is a professional studio DA. Also, I have this belief that the AES 5V signal is better for long cable throws.
However, I also have 2 channels from RME-32 allocated to send Dolby Digital, Dolby Surround or DTS data to a Yamaha for home theater. The Yamaha sometimes have problem with the professional setting.

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XXAnalysis.dat

It is written to the folder where my music is kept. For example: music is in "D:\my music\Beethoven\Symphonies No 1\." After playing, XX will create XXAnalysis.dat in this folder rather than in XXhighend directory. If I open another music folder, the same file will be created in that folder too, thus I'll have to delete this file from every folder I play music from.
This does not happen in older XX versions.

Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Sound quality: internal hard drive vs NAS with XXHighend
|
on: June 19, 2010, 07:33:09 am

Hi guys,
I also recently transfered by music library to a NAS (Synology DS410). My first try at placing my music in a NAS was to a Synology 209J which was quite problematic. The issue turned out to be slow transfer speed. When I used the DS410, all those problems disappears.
Could it be possible that the difference in sound quality you experienced is due to your computer still processing read/write from NAS while playing music at the same time?

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Engine #3 did not start within the expected time!

After reading Per's comment, I realized that I performed several Microsoft Updates and upgrading my Avast anti-virus. It is possible that either change caused some conflict. After some frustrating hours of tweeking, I decided to do it the hard way. Since I have a Microsoft Technet Subscription, I downloaded Vista Ultimate SP2 and did an "upgrade." My computer went through several more hours of purgatory, then bit after midnight, Vista screen popped up and now XX plays again! It seem the problem lies with Vista OS. BTW, Vista now loads faster, but still scratching my head as to what went wrong. Per and Peter, thanks for your help.

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Engine #3 did not start within the expected time!

Hi Peter et al, Lately my computer has been acting strange. XX doesn't play anymore. After pressing play, a few seconds later I get the error: "Engine #3 did not start within the expected time!" I suspected problem with my drives, but other players like foobar has no problem playing. Any idea what's wrong? This problem is quite frustrating...especially when I now depend on XX to pass the evenings.

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Unhandled exception error

Hi Peter,
When I copied the new version into an existing older version of XX (rather than deleting all files in older version) XX sometimes works. And when it does work, I noticed that the "No Track Given Error" has been solved. I know you put alot into solving that one, so thanks.

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Unhandled exception error
|

Peter,
I tried 9b and am getting this error when I drag music files into playlist window and press play:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: rowIndex."
Attached are two files: 1. Screen Shot 2. Log that appeared when I press on the "details" button inbedded in the error msg window.

Hi Peter,
I've attached the log result of two songs I playing. When the first song finished, the error msg would pop up and after a long period (more than one minue), XX will continue to play second sound.
Also, something is happening with W-8a with new engine. When I play "unattended," I immediately get this error msg:
"Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: rowIndex."
