Solved, switch #5 (again)
2  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / DAC setting <Is Phasure Nos1> on: May 09, 2024, 06:36:58 pm
Hi,

I use the Phasure dac. When the button in the dac setting area is activated the button is red, correct?
It is blue when not activated, correct?

The sound stage when activated is much smaller (within the speakers) then when not activated.

I prefer the sound when not activated.  wacko bzz To be honest the best I have ever heard.

The upsampling and custom filtering when not activated is limited to 352 but still.....

Question: am I doing something wrong?

Remark: my listening room is really small.

kind regards

Hi Peter,

Can I just order a new ram-os from the shop?
Could you also e-mail me the driver for the dac?

kind regards

Thanks Ramesh,

No backup. Will try CHKDSK but you might be right about this RAM-OS is lost.

Will see what I can do.

Hi Peter,

When starting the PC I now get a selection screen to select e.g. W10-14393.0 RAM.

But next there are errors e.g. Error 16 Inconsistent filesystem structure.

Next option is to select another W10 version, but they all are returning this error.

So maybe the irreversible thing already happened.  unhappy

Hi Peter,

To many buttons!  wacko bzz
I forgot the standard power button it started now.  blush1

But I think the RAM-OS is still in minOS. Because I am able to see the boot screen but nothing when the the OS is started. I think it is because I get a blue light on the RAM-OS ssd drive.

I will try to recreate the setup as it was before. Hopefully I can still use remote desktop to connect to the Mach II PC.

Is it possible to reset th minOS? If not I might need a new RAM-OS.

Hi Peter,

It has been a long time. I am finally back on the music listening hobby. Was to busy with other things the last 3 years.

I have now a dedicated room to listen. So I am setting up all the stuff needed.

But when starting the PC (still Mach II) nothing happens. I hear a slight buzzing near the coil only at activation of the button on the back. But when using the button on the right nothing happens. No lights, nothing.

Any idea what could be the case. Or is it just a matter of a PC that just died because of its age and lack of use?

regards, Arjan

Hi Michael,
Nice story and the best choice you could make!
Now I understand that the CPU is from the gold serie and not the silver serie. So in therms of CPU it is really a step up from the 26-serie.
Peter, am I right? Any thoughts on this decision?

10  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.10 sound quality on: April 08, 2018, 06:54:13 pm
Hi,
Have you tried, clock resolution=0.5, nervous rate=1 and Q3=0?
See my details for the other settings, this gave me some extra drive in the low end.

Hi All,

Yes, 2.10 is really nice.
Just played a bit around with settings, started off from the settings of Peter.
But ended with: clock resolution=0.5ms, nervous rate=1 and Q3=0 (again). Very nice low drive and good clearance.

Hi Peter,

With the CPU ratio on default Auto the base CPU speed seems higher. Is that true? If so 43 will result in a higher CPU speed then before. Or is that a wrong assumption?

Hi Peter,

Just to be sure:

Only disable Turbo Boost and CPU Ratio will reset to Auto?
or
Disable Turbo Boost and CPU Ratio back on All Core and All Core on 18.

14  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.09 sound quality on: January 08, 2018, 11:41:34 am
Hi Peter,
Thanks for trying Arc Prediction. I tried all the custom filters and for a long time I loved Low. But after more listening I must say the Mid might be the best for me.

But then I tried Arc Prediction again and for me this sounded really honest. That is how I would call the SQ, the most honest I have ever heard. You could call it dry, but it is o so real.

The only area I am not sure about is the bass. It is sometimes, depending on the type of music, a bit overwhelming. But on the other hand in todays music that is sometimes the case. So maybe it is in the mix.
