Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / problem with new Thinkpad W530
|

I replace my Thinkpad W510 - i7-2820 - 16G with W530 - i7-3920 - 32G which is much faster; but now I can't play SFS=2 Straight contiguous. Is there any mistakes I could have made in the setup? I did the same setup as W510.
Any suggestions?
cheers, Didi

Hi Praphan,
Here are my setting: Thinkpad W530 - i7-3920 - 32 G RAM -SSD Intel 240G - ex.HDD LaCie 3T. DAC: WEISS MEDEA+FW & DAC202, Accuphase DP100/101, Metronome, Sony SACD-1. TT-analogue: TTweight ONYX + Graham Phantom II + London Reference & Verdier + EMT +JSD15. Preamp: Venture VP100L + VP100P(phono) Power amplifier: Venture V100A+ & V200A+ Speakers: Venture ...... Cables: Venture...... other players: JRiver MC17, JPLAY
XXH-7.2 - KS - adaptive - buffer 2048 - 24/192 - antiImage -scheme-3 or -2 - low - Real Time -15ms - 24/192 - AFC - SFS 2.0 - Straight Contiguous - Q-14 Qf-1.
Those are the setting that so far satisfy me.
Now the only problem (in fact "no problem") is that I should not mix the formats on the play list and play-stop twice to change format, alt-s alt-p.
So far I can't find a better software to play my music then XXH, so soon I will try the NOS1 and see if it the best DAC period, as Peter claim.
Cheers, Didi

Hi Peter,
My problem is the following:
1) XX Hi-end cannot play all the songs one after the other when I am playing a playlist that has songs with various samples (mainly 88.2 and 192). E.g. if a song is playing at 192 and the next song is at 88.2 XXHi end cannot play the next song right. (and vice versa)
2) When not played in a playlist, by this I mean playing the songs separately, XXHi end cannot play at the first go. E.g. if you play a song at 88.2 then stop, change the song, a song at 192, XXHi End does not want to play the file. After pressing play a second time, it will run again. (and vice versa)
I hope I explained it clearly to you. I only wish to help you improve your software. There is no problem for me to use XXH, as I know how to do.
Best regards, Didi

That's a hard word that I did not expected from you. I only want to share my experience with HDTracks and maybe it could be a hint to you to make XXH become a perfect user friendly and reliable. Not more and not less. Maybe we both have problem with English. I always do my best to make a perfect products as possible, that's my nature. Sorry. Any healthy critics are always welcome to me and take it with thanks. So better I close the HDTracks issue to not make things more worst. I am just another XXH user, maybe with more open mind. Didi

I did allowed format change! This was happened: Play list: 1st file 24/192 and 2nd file 24/88.2 At the 2nd song I got double speed.
Maybe you have to solve this problem: format mix allowed! or delayed so that the DAC have time to change to 88.2 or if the format is not the same.
If I played 24/192 and then stop, and played further a 88.2 file, XXH did not play (no sound, but went to unattended), and I stopped and play again, and it works. Maybe the reason was that the DAC was still on 192, and on the second play the DAC already switched to 88.2.
I hope this information will bring some lights.
cheers, Didi

Thanks for your swift response. The problem is, if the play list have mix sampling 88.2 - 192, on the play list I can't see that the file is 88.2 and suddenly I got double speed. That's the problem I faced.
That's why I tried to convert again from 88.2 to 192, but it didn't work.
My HDTracks files are mixed between all my other files which are 24/192.
The best why to play from play list is only to have all the same sampling.
Cheers, Didi

I have problem playing downloaded HDTracks file: * original file: FLAC 24/44, 24/88, 24/192 I converted the files using dBpoweramp to WAV 24/192 and only the FLAC file with 44, 96 and 192 can play on XXH, all other with original FLAC 24/88.2 converted to 24/192 can not play. Converted to the same source sampling can play, so FLAC 88,2 convert to WAV 88.2 is OK. Any suggestion how to play HDTracks FLAC 88,2 converted to WAV 192? The problem if the play list has mixed sampling files, WAV 88.2 & 192, and the DAC setting is on 192, the music played at double speed on 88.2 files. After converting the FLAC 88.2 to WAV 88.2, I tried to convert again from WAV 88.2 to WAV 192, also will not play on XXH-7.2. Sorry for the bad English as it is not my mother language. Do my best . Didi
