Dear Peter, Mani and Paul,
thank you so much for your wishes and for supporting me in these difficult times. Whenever you will be in Amsterdam be sure that you're always very welkom in our (new) house.
When Eric wrote his short text on the 24th of february it was the first day we went to hospital because of his illness - and the first time for him in this type of institution. Since that day it was sometimes hard for him and sometimes he and we together had also a wonderful time. He never lost his amazing humour, his patience and lovely kindness with everybody he had to deal with because of the cancer.
Especially the last 10 days of his short life, when we prepared for his death he still supported his sons, made jokes and was teasing me and other's, he showed all his feelings, honesty and his love for everybody. Finally he could go and leave this lifeform exactly the way he wanted, being at home with his loved ones, clear in consciousness and feelings, peacefuly, calm and embraced.
Whenever it feels very difficult being without him, I become deeply grateful that we both could create all the circumstances he wished to move foreward on his path. Now he's dancing among the star's.
Much love for you all,
Michaela, Eric's loving wife

Yeah Peter, We will never forget that winter! Instead of buying new speakers, we sold our ML32 preamp, bought Bert's Gainclones and moved house What I mean is: sometimes improvents can come from a totally unexpected direction. We can't wait to listen to your new speakers when they are ready. Cheers Eric (and love from Michaela)

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Volume Normalisation

Peter, most albums are processed without problems. For the albums with error message we (Bert and I) found that this happens when the Normalisation is started through the Library panel (selecting the album, rightclick etc.). However, when starting to play the same album with Normalisation activated, all goes well and no error occurs. Hope this helps.
I also noticed that Normalisation does not work for WAV tracks that have been converted from m4a format. But this is a different issue.
Cheers, Eric

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Coverart display options

Peter, That's right, I want Coverart to be shown in the Library Area. This would imply that the Coverart is also shown during playing unattended, correct? However there is no need for that (for me) because my Monitor is off anyway.
Cheers Eric

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Coverart display options
|
on: January 19, 2014, 12:31:52 pm
|
Hello Peter,
Regarding Coverart: it can be displayed in the Library Area, and it can be displayed during playing music. Currently it is both yes or both no, right? When I browse through the Library Area, I appreciate having the coverart displayed to select the music I like to play. However, when the music has started, there is no point for me having the coverart displayed, because usually I have the Monitor switched off anyway. Have you considered making these 2 different Coverart options independent? Would it matter for SQ (assuming that it could be implemented)?
Thanks Eric

Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / Re: USB to PC chassis ground ? (noise) - The biggest change ever !

Because I was inspired by the experiences published on this forum, I ordered a Silverstone card yesterday evening. Today I installed it, replacing another USB3 card, and I isolated it from PE. The installation, including the driver, took less than an hour or so. From the first moment I played music, I was totally flabbergasted. Mind you, I am still on W7, but with XX 1.186a.
The sound is saturated, multidimensional and very precise. Highly recommended!
Cheers Eric

Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / Re: Fuse

I am using these fuses since many years. From my experience I can confirm that the type/quality of fuse makes a significant difference. It makes sense, because all power needs to pass through that thin, small wire. The biggest difference was in my phono preamp, but also the NOS1 DAC delivers a sound that is more solid ("grounded") and has a bit more microscopic detail. For example see http://www.kempelektroniks.com. By the way, my NOS1 DAC is powered through a Power Station that delivers Regenerated, Balance power (same website). Cheers, Eric
