I can only agree with what has been said above. A detailed, yet relaxed, “real” sound and also a more natural and integrated sound stage. Indeed, a more “right” sound.
The result is that bedtime has shifted considerably because of “yet another album”.
I am curious about a physical explanation for this phenomenon.
Thanks Peter!

Has anyone experienced in unattended mode with shortcut keys when pressed Alt-N to get to the next song - that it starts playing a few seconds - then stops and starts again....
May be something in the settings that might avoid that - also sometimes it does not go to the next song but the one after it...
Yes, I experience the same, ever since model 2.11 I think. It doesn't really bother me, but if it can be avoided, it would be nice. Regards, Stanley

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Some MQA tracks play at low speed

Hi Stanley,
I have the hunch that this can be related to two the same track names (file names). Thus supposed that both are named
02 - My Favorite Things
(upper and lower case does not matter, and the file extension (WAV/FLAC) also doe not matter)
that things can go wrong.
Could that be the situation ?
Best regards, Peter
Yes Peter, that's the situation. And when I changed the first trackname/filename (by adding a "1" at the end of the title) then the next track plays at the correct speed. Thanks Peter, it is good to know what caused it and it now is easy to solve it. Regards, Stanley

Hi Stanley,
It would be good to have an example of subsequent tracks that would copy the behavior; I have very such regularly mixed tracks in the playlist, but never run into the problem you describe. I surely can imagine it, though.
If you rather not take the effort, I am fine with that. But otherwise the example should be very literal, so indeed it would happen over here too.
Kind regards, Peter
Hi Peter, Yesterday I compared 2 tracks: John Coltrane – My favorite things in 16-44 and in 24-192. I selected the tracks from the albums and dragged them in a playlist and pressed Play. The 16-44 played normal, but when I pressed Next, the 24-192 file plays at a high speed. As said, it’s not a big problem, because I don’t do that very often this way, but I’m curious what is happening. Regards, Stanley

Hi Peter, I tried to reproduce it with some random albums, but it works fine. As soon as I encounter this behavior again I will report it. Thanks. Regards, Stanley

Stanley,
I have a set up a bit similar to yours. - Direct PC to PC connection between music server and audio PC (ET 3); - Second ethernet card on music server connects to switch; - General purpose laptop connects to internet with wireless, and to the switch to allow RDC connection between laptop and music server; - Music server has RDC connection to Audio PC;
I tested direct ethernet connection between music server and laptop as opposed to both of them connected to a switch. Did not experience any benefit. Direct connection between music server and audio PC, even without ET 3, sounded better.
R.
Thank you Ramesh, I'm curious how the ET^3 will perform in my setup. Regards, Stanley

I’m tempted to try the ET^3 cable, but I have a question.
If the ET^3 ethernet cable between the musicserver pc and the audio pc has an significant effect on sound quality, what about the influence of the ethernet cable between the router and the musicserver pc? In my setup I have a separate router to establish a wireless RDC connection between a laptop (that controls the audio pc via the musicserver pc). This router _can_ be connected to the main network router by manually connect the ethernet cable if the musicserver pc needs connection to internet.

Hi Peter,
I upgraded from 2.10 to 2.11 and XXHE shows "model 2.11".
When I unRAR and paste 2.11a over 2.11 then XXHE still shows "model 2.11" and not "model 2.11a". What model number should be displayed?

I gave the Lush^2 configuration
A:B-R & W-Y, B:B-R
a try for a number of listening nights, but it didn’t satisfy me at all and in fact it started to irritate and for me there was no involvement in the music anymore. What Peter called “splashing” is the very thing that annoys in my setup. Too much “sssshhhhh”.
Going back to
A:B-W-Y-R; B:B-W-R)
brought back gentle highs, deep articulate bass and all-round musical enjoyment.
The difference with what others experience can be related to different amps and speakers and/or the audio PC of course.
But worth well to experiment yourself.
Regards, Stanley
