2  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9z-4-0 on: January 19, 2011, 05:02:41 pm
Hi Peter,

Compared to before I am sure the bass vs midtones vs hights are much more in balance now, and on top of that there is more transparancy in the hights.

Regarding the Q1, I was misreading. Q1=8, resulting in samples of latency (Q!): 2

cheers
Leon
3  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9z-4-0 on: January 19, 2011, 04:37:29 pm
I just listened (attended) for about two hours to 0.9z-4-0 and simply said -I love it-
I agree with Criss totally .

The settings are:
Special mode, with a buffer size of 512
Scheme 1/low/Realtime and clock res. on "min for this computer"
SFA 50,2
Memory Organization "mixed Contiguous (straight contiguous wouldn't work here)
Q1 -1 all others 0
the OS is W7 (without SP1)

5  Ultimate Audio Playback / Chatter and forum related stuff / Re: Phasure NOS1 Waiting List on: December 06, 2010, 01:37:00 pm
Peter,

I won't be able to purchase your DAC for a while, so "If" I am on your first list, please do not hesitate and give my place to whomever Wink

Still I can't wait to hear how the DAC will perform at my good friend Gerard's place.

Ciao for now
Leon
6  Ultimate Audio Playback / Interesting Music / Testmaterial / Re: A general test to test all in one time - Yello on: June 04, 2010, 08:18:48 pm
I fully agree with Peter about Yello. Specially the Albums "Motion Picture" and "Touch" are worth listening to with everything in it as Peter describes.

have a great weekend folks

7  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9y-7 on: March 03, 2010, 08:54:07 pm
Hi Peter,

Just wanted to say I love the detailed and yet full sound of 09y-7 KS in adaptive mode, I just cannot get enough of listening to the music especially songs with a strong emphasize on focals and analogue guitar play. I am not going to start superlatives or try to describe what it is which makes it so much more than it already was. Just wanted you to know I think you did a great job.

ciao
Leon

Hi Peter,

First of all I like to say that I'm happy we all now can start wondering what would be better engine 3or 4.
listening attended to the first album (flac decoded) I noticed that after a few tracks the music stops playing and a message pops up "No Track given" and than a little later the message Engine #4 did not start within the expected time! Pressing "play" again will start music again.

I have Q1 at 7 and the others at 0, processor setting at No Appointment and playerPrio and ThreadPrio at Normal, split filesize at 30. Setting the Q1 lower than 7 will start hickups in the audiostream.

Please let me know if one of these settings should be different, if you can say anything about that at this moment that is.

As far as the SQ, I love it but then again I love engine 3 as well and need to do a bit more listening before I can say anything further.

Well done so far ok.

Regards
Leon

Hi Peter,

I just did do as you asked. Now at the end of the playtime the system gives an error "Communication error with Endpoint device"

Leon

Hi peter,

At first I had that message about ks not being supported. After fiddling around with the names as described earlier, I no longer had that message (se log file). The player starts to play ............... but no sound. If I choose for engine 3 I have sound again.
Is there anything I can try to do in order to let engine 4 produce sound on my system?

Leon
11  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Windows7 ? hmm ... maybe not ! on: December 31, 2009, 11:21:59 am
I do not like to see a new schism, as there was/is between XP and Vista users. I really hope that Peter knows how to unravel the Windows 7 architecture and bend it into our advantage.

In the meanwhile I wish everybody a great and musical new year.

12  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: XXHighend referense track list on: December 12, 2009, 04:19:06 pm
Okay okay, nothing wrong with a little humor.

But my favorites for the list would be:

Lisa Gerrard's: Sanvean from the album The Mirror Pool (Dead can Dance)
Yello: Get on from the album Motion Picture

ciao guys, have a nice weekend

14  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: no Engine3 under Windows 7 on: October 29, 2009, 11:50:52 am
Hi Peter,

Yes that is exactly what happened, I only changed the OS.
I brought back the SG1 to 4 now and it playes without any noise.
There is however a new phenomenon (to me that is), which is that every now and then there is a very short break in the music.
It is not a regular patter so not every minute, but just happens. it occurs on a very low frequentie so not really disturbing but I though you might wanted to know.

Apart from that I enjoyed listening to Verdi's Requim last night and couldn't bring myself to lower the volume, so much I appreciated the SQ  Happy

I changed my profile to let the specs be included, but it doesn't show yet. so just to be sure here are these specs:
Windows 7, AMD Turion, X@ Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-80 2.10 GHz, 3G RAM. 32-bits
Output USB  to music system through XMod external soundcard no DAC

Hi again,

Just fiddled around with the Q1 and I learned that having the slide anywhere above 10 would lead to no sound or stottering sound.
Now you might remember I put the slide of Q1 high because otherwise the player would make kind of statical noise.

So I put Q1 now at 10 and see how the player reacts while listening a little longer. I'll keep you posted

regards
Leon
