1  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Using the Notebook CD Rom player as transport mechanism on: December 09, 2010, 01:49:26 pm
Hi,
I know foobar, I use it in Kernel Streaming with HiFace and external Harmony DAC. I'm not worrying with flac or wav files at the moment. But I cannot rip all my CD collection and I don't want buy an high grade CD transport mechanism, like Cyrus.
What I don't understand is if it's possible to use notebook CD Rom player to play an Audio CD, without using EAC to rip it (in flac or wav) simply I put the Audio CD inside the notebook and it starts (eventually with a delay) acting as something like audiophile CD player. Since we con reach Audiophile level with foobar and files in wav and flac, why can't we do directly from the CD  I can stand with some seconds of delay per track, no problem. I'don't understand exatly if xxHighEnd does this job. I'm talking about Audio CD and not about ripped files. Thanks
