1  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Strange GUI after installing 7.5 on: December 02, 2012, 03:56:38 pm
Did as you suggested above, didn't help at all. Starting either new 7.5 version gives the same "blank" GUI.

What now?

Btw, didn't tweak anything, just a normal unpack of the RAR and starting XX.

Tried rebooting etc. didn't help.

This is how my old 8C version looks like, quite normal:
3  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Strange GUI after installing 7.5 on: December 02, 2012, 09:15:20 am
After beeing away from XX for a couple of years I recently formatted my Vista32 OS and installed Win7-64 on the same machine. Took a complete backup of all disk contents beforehand and restored the xxHighEnd catalogue back after the OS swap incl. the .dat file.

Tried to get my trusty 8C version running but the undemo doesn't work any more with my old code. I reckoned i could try the latest version...

This is what it looks like on my screen after the setup. Doesnt seem normal?

Any suggestions?

Btw will be happy to go back to my saved 8C version if I just can get the old code to get it running again.

Peter let me know if i can email you the old code from '07.

Pedal wrote: "I do also agree with him about tonal matters being somewhat “light” in the bass. This is no problem for me because with my active X-over’s I can re-adjust my 3-way system. Today I turned down the treble (>800Hz) 1 dB and tuned up the bass (<80Hz) 1dB. My XO settings are now somewhere between the settings of my RME FF400 and what I used with the WEISS INT202. "

I have done the same thing here, setting the EQ slope in my Lexicon 1db up more in the bass and 1db down in the highs when using XX to get more bass and a more balanced sound.

Gratz Petter!  Cool

We have discussed the size problems before. I for one is staying with 09y-8c for now due to the visibility on my 1920x1080p displays.

The sound is very good on 09y-8c here.

Scaling down the resolution is not an option for me as i use other programs which needs 1080p. And, the defacto standard res these days both on graphics cards and displays are 1080p.

Better to change the program me thinks... Happy

To clarify went from y4->z3 and now back to y8c (which works).

Did not try z2 only z3.

9y-8c works fine.

U mean running a virtual machine with a Vista setup under W7? VMWare for instance?

Font sizes are too small on the z3 version - running 1920x1080p and even with bigger 125% fonts in windows the text are too small, also the buttons could be bigger imo.

Agree with some above - the contrast in the selected colours are too low. Pick something which increases the contrast, e.g. light on dark or vice versa.

Selecting some 16/44 CD wav tracks and click on play get this error messages:

First the appcrash and then the did not start one...

No sound comes out. Vista 32, 4gb. Tried reinstalling into a clean new folder, didnt help.

The system worked on your last generation of versions (e.g. this last spring) , but not after upgrading to the latest z3 version some days ago.
13  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 'No tracks given' error on: April 02, 2010, 03:48:36 am
Same problem here too. Tried y8 and y8c, no track given.

Went back to y4, works fine.
14  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Music Root must be a folder on: March 22, 2010, 07:07:48 am
Map a letter, e.g. S: to the diskdrive\folder and then set S: in the field in XX. Many windowsprograms dont accept URLs but need a mapped drive letter...

15  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: XX vs. J River sound quality? on: November 04, 2009, 03:37:32 pm
Agree. This was before 9y-4 with ARC pred. That version rules supreme atm. concerning SQ.
I felt XX was on a wrong heading soundwize before Peter launched 9y-4 but no more.

XX again is king on the hill regd. SQ IMO.
