Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.08d Sound Quality

Time for my reaction then. I installed 2.08d during the weekend and listened for a few hours since. Apart from an overall better sound, there's another thing that is very noticeable in my situation. The stereo image was not always stable and a little asymmetrical (in analogy: like you can't see pin sharp). Some albums suffered more from this than others. But with 2.08d it's gone. I can "see" sharp now. The stereo image is more stable, which makes listening more enjoyable. I don't know if others have experienced this also, or that it is system specific. Anyways: Regards, Stanley

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / How to install 2.08 to RAM-OS disk?
|
on: October 21, 2017, 03:15:40 pm

I’m ready to upgrade to 2.08, but I’m a bit puzzled how to do this at de RAM-OS disk.
I understand I need to access drive X: by attaching to the BASE volume. Next I want to unzip the 2.08-patch-rar file and copy it over the old files. But there seems to be no unzip-program available on the X: drive. Do I need to download this and copy to the X: drive?
I seem to miss something?
What is the proper procedure for upgrading XXHighEnd on the RAM-OS disk?

Ultimate Audio Playback / Phasure NOS1 DAC / Re: B'ASS First Review HERE AT LAST!!!

I was thinking how to write down my experiences with the G3-upgrade, but when I read Richard’s post above there’s no need to. I completely agree with his words and maybe add one thing. Some albums kind of sound “new” or different compared to before. I had to check if I played the right album. It’s like the emphasis on some instruments is different that what I was used to. But in a very convincing way (I hope you understand what I mean ). Great job Peter! Stanley

Ultimate Audio Playback / Cables (Community induced) / Re: The Lush

Lush has arrived here and all I have to say is:
WOW !!!!
It is like all digital "stuff" has been removed from my system and replaced with analogue.
Same over here! My first impression was that the sound became "richer", without getting too warm and maintaining or even expanding detail. This is with a non-G3 NOS1a (waiting for my turn) and no Intona. Going back to the Clairixa made the sound "thin" and less involving. Peter: Regards, Stanley

I mean, what I recall is that everybody agreed that the Intona had to be out since 14393.0 (this is unrelated tho te G3 upgrade), except for one - you. Maybe there are more people like you, but then they did not announce themselves.
I, for one, prefer the sound WITH the Intona (with 14393.0). Without Intona the cymbals for instance are a bit too aggressive and the 3D picture shrinks a bit. Stanley

Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.07 a great christmas surprise

Last week I installed XXHighend 2.07 and a few days later started using the RAM-OS disk with Windows 10 14393 so I’m not really shure what’s responsible most for the huge improvement in sound quality (I guess the RAM-OS is the most dominant factor). I’m not going to try to describe the different aspects of the sound improvement, only that the past week I listened longer and with more pleasure than ever before. Concerning the BIOS settings, there was a time when we changed these to improve SQ. With the current setup-RAM-OS/W14393/2.07-is there any need to change those settings or maybe just not change them (as Robert implies above)? Are there any crucial BIOS settings now? Anyway, thanks again Peter Stanley

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / XX On Screen Keyboard Design
|
on: January 07, 2017, 10:24:30 am

Hi Peter, Since using the XX On Screen Keyboard (XXOSK.exe) on my iPad for controlling XXHighEnd, I'm wondering if the texts on the buttons can be the function itself. So, in stead of "ALT-U" the button could display "Volume Up" or "^" and so on for the other functions. I understand the texts corresponds with the keyboard combinations to push on a normal keyboard, but they don't necessarily have to be the same on the On Screen Keyboard. Or do I miss another reason for the current design? On my tablet I only display the OSK, since I don't display Wallpaper (better SQ), so there's plenty of room for buttons with texts that show the real function. Of course the current design works fine and after a while you remember most codes, but it could be more elegant, I think. Regards, Stanley
