There is a button on your keyboard thats says "PrtScn" (Print Screen),

Roy and Peter
Roy, have you been peeking at my keyboard? Well you've misspeeked (that's visual for misspoken). I have the rare keyboard that has no PrtScn. It's a special MAC keyboard that's unofficially Windows compatible. However that's not the weirdest of it.

I did find the creme de la creme of screen capture utilities, but... XXHighEnd is invisible. Notice in the image on the taskbar you see that XX is depressed (as am I and Peter too) which implies that it is open and on the screen. And it is and was during the whole capture procedure. But lo and behold (not), it is nowhere to be found.

I do hope the image appears somewhere, if not, I did attach it, so for a lark take a look there. And needless to say--which doesn't normally stop anyone including me, I screen captured several other programs, none of them pulled the XXHighend disappearing act. I guess it's in unattended mood, if not mode. So, what gives?

Anyway, I'm done futzing with this. You'll just have to believe me Peter, part or most of the last paragraph and long lines are cut off in many of the tool tips on my pc. Vista 64 Sp1, 1680x10?? Acer Lcd.  No other visual weirdnesses.

Yes, another vote for old blind mice, I mean men, and I'm not even that old or blind. The Q buttons are small enough that they can get lost in a dead pixel and the values, even a loop won't find them. I may be exaggerating but I'm not sure, as I've just lost my Ps & Qs again. fool

OffTopic Where do these faces come from originally? In other words how do I set them up for my own self? Or is it Too much to ask? Never mind, I figured it out. blink

Chris, can yo give me an example of such a not completely visible ToolTip ? Preferrably a screenshot of it ?
Peter

Peter, what I can tell you for now is that on several tool-tips, the whole final paragraph is cut off (adaptive mode for instance) and the ends of some of the longer lines. (With Roy's help I was able to get to see the whole tip in the help window).

It may be tricky to get a screen shot of the tool-tip as it disappears quickly even when you hover, and of course when you remove the mouse. Do you have any suggestions for a screen capture utility that will let me deal with that issue and capture the tool-tips?

"Look for the "?" button in xx, its at the top in the middle of the screen, click that
Now hoover with your mouse over a desired button, they will now reveal there functions in the center pane."

Hey Roy,

Thanks. I've tried that before, but it didn't work. I'm assuming you meant "hover" not "hoover," which I haven't tried, it means vacuum in British English  Grin  So, I figured something close to what you said must work. And indeed that was the case.

First you hover and then quickly you click on help (without giving the help button tool-tip time to show up). (Remember this is just for the settings window which takes place of the help window). I thought I'd tried that before too, but apparently I must have dillydallied or is it shilly-shallied?

So thankyou, in a roundabout way you precipitated my success. I'm not too fond of the normal smiley faces but I  blush1 love these.

Peter, Will do, but it may be a little while as the computer that's running XXHighEnd is not online.

Yes, reading the ToolTips from the Settings Area this way (via the Help Area) is not the most comfortable.

OK, but how does one do this? I haven't been able to figure it out.  scratching

The tool tips on many topics are not completely visible (9-z2). I know it's better to read them in the help area, but how do I get to see the settings tool tips in the help area, since they take up the same space, on my pc anyway. Is there a way to move the help area?

Is there a manual of some sort somewhere? Something that would answer simple questions like this. I hate to waste people's time asking this sort of stuff, but I'm spending even more time trying to find the answers so here I am.

Hi again,

Thanks for your answer re HDCD, I was hoping something like that was the case. I don't really care that much about it, but when something doesn't work, I get obsessed....

As to gaps and gapless. I like a little time between my songs/pieces/whatever. Classical music I guess must have pauses built into the tracks, just as there are pauses between movements in a live concert. But even when it concerns separate songs or pieces, I like to put space between them. Other players (software) I've used (J River comes to mind) have that option, and I was wondering if XXHighEnd had it somewhere.

And then there were the pauses between tracks on lps and tape. I think I never got over them.

Hi,

I recently acquired XXHighEnd. After much fiddling I got it to work for the most part. By work I mean play music without extraneous noises. If I've achieved the best sound possible is another matter. However....

When I try to play HDCD encoded music, the music starts and stops and starts, or just starts and stops (often it stops at the beginning of a new track but not always). I've tried countless settings and the only difference I achieve is shorter and longer times between stoppages (times not being longer than a few minutes). I also have to reset (disable and enable) my sound device after many of the stoppages as it somehow becomes unavailable. Even the simplest settings, no upsampling, services off, and unattended don't work.

I'm using 9-z2 or whatever the number of the latest version is > Hiface > Music Fidelity V-Dac. The music '81 Goldberg Variations, Gould, Flac. I mention this because it's a bit unusal in there being so many shortish tracks (31 on a cd's worth).

And now for something completely different. Is there a place where I can set the music to gapped? I don't know what the great desire for gapless is about. Personally, I like my music to breath, or maybe it's me that needs to.
