Title: Delete Files - DO NOT USE !! IN 0.9y-3(a) and earlier
Post by: PeterSt on September 21, 2009, 06:46:58 pm
See http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=925.0

The delete functionality (see picture below) was created to carefully delete physical (original) albums from disk. However, this functionality has not been created for working with "checkboxes" (see "Chk" at the bottom with the Library Area active), but "manages" to call the actual delete function anyway. Some spectacular further coincidences next traverses up the folder structure 2 levels, and right after that the structure concerned is deleted. This happened to Gerard, and of course I am the most sorry about this.

What remains unclear is why Gerard never saw the screen which confirms the deletion, and which is needed to even perform the deletion (see 2nd screen copy below).
On the other hand, since this "Chk" and Delete functionality acted as a loose running train, I always blame me for it.

DON'T USE THIS FUNCTION until it is confirmed it can again (and then still ...)

Peter

Well, at least that solves a mystery for me. Good - and the most honest that you mention it.

Although that is where that small screen is for (show you what actually is going to be deleted), and while it -thus- did its work as intended, this is clearly not enough; In an earlier (internal) version I had an additional message "sure", but I removed that because after 23 times clicking "sure - Yes" it doesn't do its job. And oh, notice that even the left pane (Embedded Explorer) will have shown what all was about to be deleted. Nice to know afterwards, right ? :heat:

I will think about something better again, and of course solve this most stupid bug (of the worst kind imagineable :smirk:).
I also have spread the message in the Release Notes.

This is solved for the next version (0.9y-4), including some additionals indicating what you're actually about to delete.
Also, when it is detected that the number of files is unrealistically high (like over 25 for the album concerned), there's an additional message about that.

 :thankyou:

Do you mean by this that make a copy of the MP3's  and delete them afterwards work?
