Hi all,
My whole flac library is organised in individual folders with seperate files for each track.  The naming format for each track is simply the song name .   xxhighend only seems to be able to play back songs with track numbers in the filename..is there any way around this without renaming my whole libray.

I am sorry, but I don't know what you mean by "only seems to be able to play back songs with track numbers in the filename";
XXHighEnd doesn't care about this *unless* some kind of error shows up !

The latter can happen because when it is recognized that no track numbers are in there, various means are performed to get them anyway, like obtaining them from a withgoing cue file. In this area things may go wrong, alhough I never heard of a problem with this. So :

Do you get an error message ? or otherwise, what exactly happens ?

it has also problems with for eg:

(CD1) (01) - trackname

() twice seems to be a problem.

for the tracks i ripped from cd myself..a track name might be for example...song.flac

i often get this error message

"the given paths format is not supported"

hmm ...

Can you please give the full path ? (as exact as possible)
Then I can mimic it.

When simple search is turned on and I try to add the flac files for this Boards of Canada album, eg:  F:\music\flac\Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase\Into the Rainbow Vein.flac
 
I get this error popping up multiple times. (perhaps once for each track)

After which none of the tracks appear in my playlist

I get this error for each track name in the album popping up.

When i try to click on the tracks in my playlist this error pops up.

Thanks for your extensive outlay.

Somehow I have the feeling you do something I don't expect. So one more quesion please :

I assume your albums show in the Library Area; Now, when you click on an item in there (click the coverart) and click Load, this would be one of the normal ways I expect.
Doesn't that work either ?

Also, do you have a .cue file in such a folder, like that for "Board of Canada - The Campfire Headphase" ? and if yes, is it named "Board of Canada - The Campfire Headphase.cue" ?
If you have a .cue file indeed but it is named differently, try to rename it to the exact album name (and not xxxx.flac.cue ! see above example), and let me know whether that makes a difference.

(it is clear to me what happens now, like the 15-F:\... so it's only about how to do it)

Hi Peter, yes the albums show up in the album area, and I click on the album cover art to load the flac files into the playlist.

In the folder with the flac files is a txt file, a m3u file the coverart called folder.jpg.

There is no .cue file in the folder.

Yes, it sure did. I found it, and at this moment it is almost solved. It will be in the next version.

This is about the situation that no means could be found to define the track number, and as a last resort the tag data from the FLAC file is examined for it. A comment in the program said "This has not been tested because of the lack of an example".

At this moment I am struggeling a bit with the possible formats the track numbering may be in there. The example I have says 01/25 02/25 03/25 etc. and while the slash hurts me to start with (this is a path separator), I am not sure what other means can be in there, and whether it is allowed to be user defined (at converting/ripping to FLAC). So, the /25 one wouldn't be interested in anyway, which leaves some unique identification of the track number. Maybe this ends up with the first two positions because I don't know otherwise. We'll see ...
