I think I can help you with that,
Its not that hard, you know.

Impossible to calculate upfront.
But lets say 6 to 10 GB per 5000 albums (with complete covers)
But it works best with seperate folders (not 5000 albums in 1 folder)
Make genres (blues, jazz, electronic etc), but I think you have that already.
Under the real library button, right click on the album(s) you want to add then "add to gallery"
Also you can check the box "chk" to select more albums at once.
once you created a gallery, just use that as your new music db.
So under settings, change music root to your new made gallery. (put it on your C: drive)
this new gallery contains everything that is in your normal DB, but left out all FLAC or WAV, and instead there are .mta files.
and a x-reference file in every folder.

So to make things clear you have exactly the stucture as your normal music db.
but replaced music files with a kind of dummy file and put in a location file.
Watch out for possible big .ISO files in your music db, because they will be copied too,
and then you end up with a real big gallery.
just try it ask questions later.

Then you see how Peter designed the architecture behind all this.
And you will see that your DB can grow really large with serveral HDD's, no problem.

PS: Just make a small gallery first.
