Title: Engine 3 issue Post by: boleary on May 11, 2009, 11:47:15 am Recently, I seem to be getting a lot of "Engine 3 Stopped Working" errors. Sometimes if I close and restart XX the problem is fixed, but more often I have to restart the computer. Over the last several weeks I've reinstalled 9x-7 several times as a fix; that works for a while but the problem always returns. I suspect that it may have something to do with using playlists but I don't know for sure. Anyone else have this issue? Question: When I reinstall "7" should I delete the existing version in my 9x-7 directory or is it okay to unzip and copy over the existing version in my 9x-7 directory? I'd prefer doing the latter because created playlists are not in one subdirectory in my 9x-7 folder, rather they are scattered alphabetically in the 9x-7 directory. Any chance the next version could have a playlist subdirectory? That would make a clean reinstall easier. And for Christmas..... :)
As always, no need for instant fixes. Living in time is my favorite thing to do. ;) Am really interested in the overall results of measuring sound quality differences between the various players. Once thats been "'perfected", would love to see if there are measureable sound quality differences between the various ripping engines. Personally, I'm not sure there's a difference between EAC and WMP with error correction ticked......oops, sounds like the start of another thread. Have a good day. Title: Re: Engine 3 issue Post by: PeterSt on May 11, 2009, 07:22:30 pm Odd ... The only thing I can think of is that you are running out of memory. That is, when a reboot helps that is a kind of logic.
On that matter, try setting "Split file at size" (Settings Area) to 100 for a while (but maybe you already have that ?). But when does this happen ? At start of playback ? in the middle of a track ? at the end of an album ? But if anyone else has this, please let me know. The "data" like Playlists and everything reside in the folder you denoted with "Data Folder" (Settings Area). When not set it's the folder where XX resides, and then indeed you'd be loosing it when you install to a new folder. This data folder should not be a sub folder of the XX folder, because then you'd have the same problem. If it's not clear, please let me know ! Thanks, I guess I need a "XXHighEnd Instruction Manual for Dummies!
Okay, the engine 3 crashes occur at the beginning of playback. It seems to happen when I repeatedly start, pause or stop and then resume play after changing selections. It never happens when I first start the player. I have 4 gigs of memory and I never que up more than 700 megs at a time, so I don't think its a memory issue. :15a: |
