Title: Playlists? Post by: boleary on March 29, 2009, 01:32:07 pm I started recreating WMP playlists in XX. However, I'm finding that if I put a 16/44.1 wave file in the same playlist as a 24/96 wave file, it won't have "continuous playback"; as the first song,16/44.1, ends I get the "Engine #3 stopped working" error message. After closing the message and hitting play on the next track, 24/96, play resumes. Why is that? Can it be avoided?
Title: Re: Playlists? Post by: PeterSt on March 29, 2009, 02:09:50 pm That should not happen;
Do you have "Allow Format Change" ticked (Settings Area) ? When not, a message "Format Change is not allowed" should appear, and when it is ticked it should just go. Can you please tell me what happens in either case ? And is this at Attended or Unattended ? (I can imagine that I never tested it for Attended ...) Title: Re: Playlists? Post by: boleary on March 29, 2009, 03:00:40 pm With "Allow Format Change" ticked, I get the "Engine 3 Stopped working" message. With it unticked, I get "Format Change not Allowed". This is consistent in both attended and unattended mode.
Title: Re: Playlists? Post by: boleary on March 29, 2009, 03:10:30 pm Don't know if this is related, but in unattended mode, when I pause or stop a playing track, the tasK bar and desktop reappear but XX does not. Assume the program is closing because it does not show up in Windows Task Manager Application list.
Title: Re: Playlists? Post by: PeterSt on March 29, 2009, 03:47:32 pm Thanks for the answers on the Format Change.
And ... hahaha, no, XXHighEnd isn't closing, it never starts again at Pause. So, Pause (Alt-p) for pause, and Play (alt-P) for Play. Only with the latter involved it gets more logical I think. Well, I hope. Title: Re: Playlists? Post by: boleary on March 30, 2009, 02:20:40 am Not sure I understand, if I'm in unattended and I want to bring xx back to the screen, what's the best way?
Title: Re: Playlists? Post by: PeterSt on March 30, 2009, 08:41:55 am Ok ... all Unattended :
At first XXHighEnd is there. You press Play and it disappears (it really quits/vanishes/is not there anymore. Also not under the hood somewhere). If you then want to bring up XXHighEnd (could be for the reason of getting back the taskbar), press Alt-X. Now it's there again, but the music is still playing. You never gave a command otherwise. But, with XXHE there, you could. One of it is drag the time slider, and it will quit again; you apparently brough up XX to change the playback point of the track concerned ... Change the volume ... same. You could also click Pause or Stop. Music stops. Select another track and press play ... music restarts there, but since Unattended is ticked, XXHE will remove itself again. Now, some of these things can also be done without bringing up XXHE. Example : Alt-S for Stop. Music just stops, and XXHE stays away. No necessity to come up again, you just wanted to stop the music. Pause - same. Either of above cases allow Alt-P, and Playback commences. In the case of Stop before, at the beginning of the track again, in the case of Pause before, where it was before. In these cases of Stop/Pause services and all will be restored because a. there is no music anyway, and b. you might want to use the PC. A bit more clear now ? If not, ask away ... Peter PS: Yesterday I saw that the stuff around Alt-P did not manage the services and OSD very well. So at attempting above examples you will see anomalies. They are solved here, and will be in 0.9x-6. Title: Re: Playlists? Post by: boleary on March 30, 2009, 12:15:06 pm Quote Now, some of these things can also be done without bringing up XXHE. Pause - same./quote] The problem has been that in 9x-5b, in unattended, ALT-s or e or o have all stopped working. I have gone back to 9x-4 and all works again. However, in 9x-4 the same problem exists when putting a 16.44.1 file in the same playlist with a 24/96 file: the "Engine 3 stopped running" message appears between tracks. At some point when that issue is resolved I'll finish those playlists, but I'm sure you have a lot that your working on! Am looking forward to 9x-6. Thanks. Title: Re: Playlists? Post by: boleary on March 30, 2009, 12:17:14 pm Oops! Maybe some day I'll figure out how to "quote". First paragraph in the previous post is supposed to be a quote from your last message in the thread.

I've been working on it for several hours yesterday, and while that worked before, this is not so easy to solve now, as it appears. So, I guess *that* will not be in 0.9x-6, and I hope you can survive that for a while. I mean, it is better to put up some other solutions to current problems, than to wait another week for something which can rather easily be avoided (or solved by the press of a button indeed). Ok ? About the Alt- stuff stopped working ... that will be because you kind of ignored the message to restart the AutoHotkey program ? (at least I think there is a message about this at using another version). This is needed in order to tell where your current XX folder is, which AutoHotkey needs to know, in order to start XXHighEnd when needed. It can work for one "install" at the time. So, when you have it working for e.g. 0.9x-5b, it will not for 0.9x-4 again. But the procedure is the same. Won't change for 0.9x-6 either ! But if you have problems with it, or suggestions to improve ... Title: Re: Playlists? Post by: boleary on March 30, 2009, 01:05:32 pm Thanks Peter, am patient and can wait for the different sample rate issue to be resolved. Regarding the autohotkey issue I didn't forget to restart it when I change between versions. In 9x-5b, when I hit Alt-X the program is started and all is well. But when i play a track in unattended it begins and everything disappears as its supposed to, but the only command that works is Alt-X. If I hit ALT-e or s or o nothing happens. Just letting you know. Am content to use 9x-4.
Again, thanks for all the time and consideration you give to each and every issue that gets posted! Title: Re: Playlists? Post by: PeterSt on March 30, 2009, 06:56:38 pm Ok. Well, since I have been testing everything around the Alt-s/e etc. yesterday -and indeed things were flakey-, the next version should solve it.
Ah, including the Format Changes, which I just managed to solve ... :) |
