Title: Help with Fireface 400 and Vista Post by: Chris V on June 12, 2007, 05:49:01 pm Hi Peter
My new Vista PC is here :clapping:. XX is loaded together with the appropriate software and seems to be operating OK, however I am getting no sound through the Fireface. I went to audio properties to select SPdiff as before. There are lots of options shown for the Fireface but they are all the same :o, gone are the options for spdiff/ADAT/MME etc, etc I am guessing that perhaps the Fireface software needs to be upgraded/downloaded to get it to work on Vista. What do you think? Cheers Chris Title: Re: Help with Fireface 400 and Vista Post by: PeterSt on June 12, 2007, 05:58:23 pm That sure is so Chris. But : where did you get the old drivers from ? from the withgoing CD I suppose ...
Those are way old ! (and indeed cause the problem you describe). Go to this page : http://www.rme-audio.de/en_downloads.php?page=content/downloads/en_downloads_driver&subpage=content/downloads/en_downloads_driver_fireface Look whether you need new firmware first before you actually upgrade; If you download the driver there will be a readme where (usually) the needed firmware is shown. Think about a structure to keep the old versions for future needs, because it may happen that a new driver doesn't sound good. Note : I'm on 2.63a for the 800 and I don't have problems with it. Driver date 19.06.06 Driver Version 2.55 Hardware Revision 1.52 As you say these are well old :dntknw: Title: Re: Help with Fireface 400 and Vista Post by: Chris V on June 12, 2007, 06:46:27 pm Computers can be soooooooooooooooo annoying :grazy:
Have downloaded the firmware, run it (what appears) successfully and then it says I need to shut down for it to take effect. I do this but the firmware doesnt upgrade. Help! Title: Re: Help with Fireface 400 and Vista Post by: PeterSt on June 12, 2007, 06:49:25 pm Uhhm ... the Fireface should be shut off (10 secs or so) and on. That is, for the firmware.
For the driver it's the PC. Title: Re: Help with Fireface 400 and Vista Post by: Chris V on June 12, 2007, 06:54:15 pm Bloody hell :shout: :shout:. I was turning off the PC.
All is well with the firmware update. Now for the driver software Title: Re: Help with Fireface 400 and Vista Post by: Chris V on June 12, 2007, 07:55:53 pm More problems :sorry:
I download the new drivers as a zip file, extract all 13 files, than find the two .exe file amongst them and run them, but nothing seems to happen and even after rebooting both the PC and the Fireface the driver software has not been updated. :blush1: Title: Re: Help with Fireface 400 and Vista Post by: Chris V on June 12, 2007, 08:15:39 pm Just remembered you have to update drivers from the devices settings. Will give it a go
