Title: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: listening on November 11, 2018, 12:08:50 pm Hi Peter, hi all,
I'm setting up a new PC with core I7 6800K processor / 16 GByte RAM and run into trouble. Constraints: Fresh installation of Windows 10 N 1511 ---- Windows Defender off .NET 3.5 installed ---- XXHighend 2.10 No manipulation of Windows 10 whatever XXHighend 2.10 copied under C:\XXHighend Starting XXHighend and got he following messages (http://IMG_20181111_112459.jpg) (http://MG_20181111_112547.jpg) (http://IMG_20181111_112558.jpg) (http://IMG_20181111_112607.jpg) (http://MG_20181111_112621.jpg) (http://MG_20181111_112538.jpg) I tried to add preset files from the other PC into XXData directory and could select one. After leaving XXHighend and starting again I run into the setup procedure again. Any ideas? Georg Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: PeterSt on November 11, 2018, 08:02:10 pm Hi Georg,
Maybe it is so that the .exe files in your XX folder are "blocked" (see properties of the files) ? In this case it would be about ChangeWP.exe. If that is not so ... can you change the Wallpaper (like with rightclick on the Desktop etc.) ? If your Windows is not activated your answer will probably be "No", but in that case I don't know whether it influences. This is because you probably have a Windows 10 version which is (may not be) compatible. If you go to a Command Prompt and type Winver in there, what version / build does it come up with ? The N 1511 does not ring a bell really, but it looks to be an older one (maybe even provided by me). Regards, Peter Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: listening on November 11, 2018, 09:02:18 pm Hi Peter,
the files are not blocked. Unfortunately the ChangeWP.exe is not included in the rar-file. The wallpaper cannot actually be changed - the OS ist not activated. I'm using the version you provided: Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.0) W10 Pro N. Regards, Georg Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: PeterSt on November 12, 2018, 08:03:00 am Quote Unfortunately the ChangeWP.exe is not included in the rar-file. Hi Georg. I'm afraid then that is your problem, because it is ... I just checked it (downloaded 2.10 main file (first listed in the 2.10 topic) myself and unpacked) and it just is there. Maybe some anti virus after all ? Or maybe it got deleted by whatever accident ? My suggestion is to re-download the .rar and retry ... Kind regards, Peter Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: listening on November 12, 2018, 09:07:01 pm Hi Peter,
the file was silently quarantined by the antivirus program off the PC where I downloaded the rar-file to. Installation is without errors yet. But there is another message, that there is only a half attempt of disabling windows update using the Stop button. What could be the reason? Regards, Georg Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: PeterSt on November 13, 2018, 04:10:52 am OK Georg, good.
Quote that there is only a half attempt of disabling windows update using the Stop button. Not sure. But also not sure what the "half attempt" could be you are referring to. What do you notice of it ? Or maybe better : what does it mean, "half attempt" ? Regards, Peter Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: listening on November 13, 2018, 09:25:14 am Hi Peter,
attached is the whole sequence. Regards, Georg Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: PeterSt on November 13, 2018, 10:50:03 am Georg - Thanks.
I wonder whether this can be related to not having shut off the UAC yet. Maybe you already did, but ... I have never seen this before (but obviously I anticipate it). If you never connect this PC to the Internet, it won't be a problem anyway ? (let me know your thoughts) Peter Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: listening on November 13, 2018, 10:56:16 am I did a fresh W10 and XXHighend installation without shut off the UAC. Didn't I think of something?
Georg Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: PeterSt on November 13, 2018, 11:58:58 am Quote Didn't I think of something? Haha, no ... ME (perhaps). This shut off UAC as how it works today, works like that since 2.10. So what I meant is : maybe I made a mistake and it is necessary to shut off the UAC. Mind you, via the Stop button again. Thus : - Shut off UAC; - Stop Windows Updates. In that sequence. No need to reinstall anything. Just stop UAC and retry the Windows Update thing. Does not help ? Then swith on logging, retry the Stop Updates and right after the last message about it (see your earlier post) grab the newest XX- (thus only XX-) log file and post it (or send it to me, what you like best). Peter Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: listening on November 13, 2018, 03:16:04 pm Did not work. Logfile is attached.
Georg Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: PeterSt on November 13, 2018, 05:53:21 pm Georg, why did I think about asking you to switch on logging, quit and restart XXHighEnd and then apply the procedure with the log file, but did I not ask you for real ...
Now I lack data which could be useful. It can very well be that I built in something for 10586.0 which was not tested and maybe does not work now. Were you previously using 10586.0 with 2.10 ? Peter Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: listening on November 13, 2018, 06:14:13 pm Hi Peter,
I misunderstood, sorry. Should I log the sequence again? Additionally I got the attached message when "Set UAC to optimized ..." Yes, I'm using Version 10586.0 on the other music PC. It's AMD based. Georg Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: PeterSt on November 14, 2018, 11:23:49 am Hi Georg,
Would it be fair to say that something is wrong ? Did you unpack the whole .rar on a not "AV infected" PC and did the install all over (of XXHighEnd) ? Could that AMD be a Ryzen ? Quote I misunderstood, sorry. Should I log the sequence again? Yes, if you still feel the lust ... :) Kind regards, Peter PS: Strange suggestion perhaps : why stay on 10586.0 ? I don't think many people stil use it and at least for me it certainly doesn't sound better. I am thinking of this because *if* that is a Ryzen, you wouldn't want to use a too old OS. 14393.0 may not even cut it, but we haven't really tried newer builds anyway ... Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: listening on November 16, 2018, 10:22:25 pm Hi Peter,
installed build 14393.0 with success. There is a correlation between the processor type, the version of Windows 10 and the XXHighend version. It is probably necessary to use an operating system version that has a version date similar to the microprocessor's market launch. Thank's a lot for spending your time. Georg Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: PeterSt on November 17, 2018, 11:55:04 am Thank you Georg.
And really no problem to spend that time. I wish that would not have happened. Is it the Ryzen indeed you are using there ? Regards, Peter Title: Re: Installing XXHighend Error Post by: listening on November 17, 2018, 04:03:55 pm No, it's an Intel® Core™ i7-6800K Processor. I'm always some generations behind ...
