Title: 2.10 refuses to launch Post by: manisandher on April 05, 2018, 08:24:12 pm Hi Peter. I just upgraded to 2.10 on my office audio PC using the patch. I simply extracted the files over the existing files in the 2.xx folder. Everything seemed go fine. However, XX now refuses to launch. If I either double click on the new shortcut I created or on the xxhighend.exe file itself, absolutely nothing happens.
I stayed in MinOS for the upgrade, which I thought would be fine. (In the past, I always used to go back to Normal, but I recall you writing that that shouldn't really be necessary.) Anyway, I'm happy to download the full version and start from fresh, but just thought I'd post this in case there were an easy fix. Let me know... Mani. Sorry! Mani. Title: Re: 2.10 refuses to launch Post by: manisandher on April 05, 2018, 08:44:58 pm I'm not sure if I killed XXEngine3 before the upgrade. Anyway, now I'm getting this error.
Time to start with a fresh full download? Mani. Title: Re: 2.10 refuses to launch Post by: PeterSt on April 06, 2018, 08:04:27 am Hi Mani,
I'd say : take care that XXEngine3.exe isn't running, and unzip the UpgradePatch over de lot again. But I think the problem is with the "locked" Engine3.exe now. Heck, I wish I could mimic this behaviour so I can try to solve it in advance of this sh*t. Let me know how you fare. Peter Title: Re: 2.10 refuses to launch Post by: manisandher on April 06, 2018, 09:24:45 am I tried unzipping the patch again, having checked in Task Manager that both XXEngine3.exe and AutoHotkey.exe were inactive beforehand. The issue remains.
It seems XXEngine3.exe is indeed locked now. Can I simply delete it, and then re-paste it from the full download? Otherwise, any other ideas? (BTW, this happened in my office system, so no massive rush to get it all sorted. But it would be nice...) (And sorry for creating this mess. But perhaps we'll learn something useful.) Mani. Title: Re: 2.10 refuses to launch Post by: PeterSt on April 06, 2018, 09:37:57 am But Mani, can't you unlock XXEngine3.exe then ?
Title: Re: 2.10 refuses to launch Post by: manisandher on April 06, 2018, 09:46:55 am By clicking the XXEngine3 button? It's showing that XXEngine3 is not running (see below), and I'm sure it was like this when I unzipped the patch first time (although I can't swear by it).
I certainly clicked it and checked in Task Manager before unzipping the patch again. Mani. Title: Re: 2.10 refuses to launch Post by: PeterSt on April 06, 2018, 10:15:32 am UnLOCKing. Like you did with XXHighEnd.exe ... :)
Title: Re: 2.10 refuses to launch Post by: manisandher on April 06, 2018, 10:34:33 am UnLOCKing. Haha... You mean unblocking. Yep, that's done the trick. All good now. THANKS! Mani. Title: Re: 2.10 refuses to launch Post by: hudesigns on April 06, 2018, 06:15:49 pm Quote It's showing that XXEngine3 is not running (see below), Hi Peter, This is just for improving my knowledge in XXHE world. I am still vague about the function of this button. When this little square button is lit in blue: 1. Does it mean that XXEngine3 is resided in memory? 2. Or it means either XXEnine3 or 4 is resided in memory? If (1) is true, my question is: this button always lights up in blue when the song is starting to play in my current audio PC, and I am using KS as audio device in XX settings with WASAPI is disabled, which I presume that I am using XXEngine4. Why XXEngine3 needs to be loaded? I can click the button to clear memory but as soon as I start a new song it turns blue again. Thanks, ZH Title: Re: 2.10 refuses to launch Post by: PeterSt on April 07, 2018, 09:01:02 am Zheng, ... not such an abnormal question ...
There is no XXEngine4.exe. Only XXEngine3.exe. However, internally there's the nomenclature Engine3 and Engine4. But this is not externally used any more, as far as I know (and in 2.10, IIRC, I removed another text about it on the screen. But it could still be in messages (and internally it really is used). Engine3 : WASAPI Engine4 : Kernel Streaming Regards, Peter |
