Title: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 23, 2018, 04:32:17 am Hi Peter,
Since a week or so I’m finding that randomly the music stops playing between a track. Hitting Alt+X shows that the play button is still active. Looks like the engine just stops. I activated log files, however I couldn’t get any data. Is it possible that activity logging is possible only in OS base & not in RAM? Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 23, 2018, 07:34:27 am Hi Arvind,
Logging works everywhere. Just look in c:\XXHighEnd\2.xx\TemporaryData\ of your Stealth PC. And no idea of course what suddenly could be in order. "Disk full" could be an obvious one, but then from data which is kept somewhere but shouldn't. How much free space do you have on c: right after boot-up from RAM ? Regards, Peter Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 23, 2018, 12:46:06 pm Hi Peter,
Free space in Drive C: is 3.75GB. I am attaching herewith the X3 & X3PB files. Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 23, 2018, 01:29:08 pm Hi Peter,
Attaching another set of X3 & X3PB files, right after the music stopped. Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 23, 2018, 01:45:56 pm Arvind - Thank you.
Unless I'm mistaken, where the X3PB ends, the X3 starts (the ones from your last post). IOW, they don't belong to each other. Possibly you must kill Engine3 (blue led in the right border) after the happening so both log files will be compete(d). Or there is a situation at hand whcih we don't understand (which is likely in this case). Regards, Peter Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 23, 2018, 02:14:45 pm Hi Peter,
Attached are the X3 & X3PB files after the music stopped & after killing Engine#3. I believe that initially the X3 files are created & then the X3PB files, though i may be wrong. Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 23, 2018, 03:51:17 pm Arvind,
Can you give me the XX- logfile of this happening as well ? If you're not sure which one it is (could be more than one) then it should contain log file entry times between ~14:08:56 and ~14:30:32. It could be easier for you to zip the whole Temporarydata folder and email that to me (it won't be very large, unless you always have Logging switched on :)). Peter Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 23, 2018, 07:15:06 pm Hi Peter,
I dont keep logging on at all. I had it on now just to capture the files due to the problem on hand. I am attaching 2 XX log files. Hope they serve your purpose. Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 24, 2018, 05:38:06 am Hi Peter,
Another problem has cropped up. I rebooted into RAM OS & now I am unable to start XXHE program. Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 24, 2018, 09:20:32 am Hi Arvind,
Yesterday I had the hunch of something not being right with the priority settings, but internally, *or* there is a bug somewhere in XXHighEnd and you changed something regarding the priorities as well. And ... while writing this, what about you changed the Core Appointment settings ? I can't see it in the log (it is not registered) but it could be a "logical" thing you have done, regarding the latest remarks about it ... Did you ? Quote I rebooted into RAM OS & now I am unable to start XXHE program. So what happens ? Regards, Peter Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 24, 2018, 09:35:38 am Hi Peter,
No priorities or core appointment changed. Now if I try to start XXHE from the desktop(double click on XXHE icon), XXHE screen does not open. If I try to open File Explorer also, I get a blank screen. Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 24, 2018, 10:26:58 am Booting into the BASE OS gives the same result ?
And if so, what happens when you boot into BAS 10586.0 ? Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 24, 2018, 10:30:17 am Hi Peter,
Under the present situation, I don’t know how to access the OS boot menu since the XXHE screen does not open. Is there another way of doing it? Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 24, 2018, 10:46:05 am I booted the Audio PC, RAM OS is the only option at present & now I have File Explorer open(don’t ask me how it opened now & not a few hrs back). Do you suggest that I delete XXHE 2.09, go back to 2.07 then apply 2.08 upgrade patch, then apply 2.09 upgrade patch & try to start XXHE?
Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 24, 2018, 10:54:33 am Quote Under the present situation, I don’t know how to access the OS boot menu since the XXHE screen does not open. Yes, I just was thinking that myself. :( Not sure whether you did that already, but when you have a monitor attached, you will see the normal Windows boot menu passing by. If you, when that is about to appear, keep on pressing downarrow, you will interrupt the boot menu (without touching anything it stays there for 2 seconds). In there you can select the OS again, with the notice that your choice won't stick for a next reboot (so if that is necessary in the process, repeat this procedure with the DownArrow). Notice that I think that now all the OSes fit in that menu, but with Down-/Uparrow you can scroll through them. Quote Do you suggest that I delete XXHE 2.09, go back to 2.07 then apply 2.08 upgrade patch, then apply 2.09 upgrade patch & try to start XXHE? No, not at all; Something else is wrong but it is hard to tell what, as of yet. If you can imply normal behavior in 10586.0 then 14393.0 became corrupt somehow. If in 10586.0 you see similar problems, it is worse ... Peter Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 24, 2018, 11:05:56 am At present I don’t have the graphic card in the Audio PC & neither a monitor, keyboard & mouse connected. Let me set up all these & try to boot into 10586.0 Base.
Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 24, 2018, 12:17:24 pm Hi Peter,
10586.0 Base works fine. However Just For your information the XXHE version which came up was 2.06a. Would you want me to boot into 14393.0 Base & try it out? Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 24, 2018, 12:27:51 pm Quote Would you want me to boot into 14393.0 Base & try it out? Ah yes, that test was actually first. Please do. The XXHighEnd version should not be related. Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 24, 2018, 12:43:55 pm 14393.0 Base has the problem as in 14393.0 Ram; XXHE screen does not open.
Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 24, 2018, 01:12:28 pm :heat: ... so you are lucky and nothing is really the matter. However, your 14393.0 got corrupted. This means copy back the "- Copy" version.
Test that briefly at first and then don't forget to expand it. First look at the size of the current (corrupted) 14393.0 so you can make it the same. Still questions ? just ask ... Peter Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 24, 2018, 02:05:55 pm I looked into drive D: & it doesn’t have a “- copy” version of 14393.0. It only has MyW10-14393.vhd
However I had copied the above OS version & saved it another hdd. Don’t know if that is useful!! As I understand I should delete the corrupted version & copy paste the one I have in the other hdd. Right? Having done that I should boot into 14393.0 Base, test out all is working ok & then boot into RAM OS? Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 24, 2018, 03:06:50 pm Quote As I understand I should delete the corrupted version & copy paste the one I have in the other hdd. Right? Yes. But take care that the name becomes "original" again (remove the "- Copy"). Quote Having done that I should boot into 14393.0 Base, test out all is working ok & then boot into RAM OS? Yes. And also check whether you have XXHighEnd 2.09 in there. If not, your copy is from earlier on and you'd need to upgrade it with the UpgradePatch file (paste over, etc.). Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 25, 2018, 09:40:19 am Hi Peter,
All good here, back with 14393.0 RAM OS, XXHE version 2.09. The only issue which has cropped up is after loading a playlist & hitting play, a window pops up: “Free Memory Attempts: 11 Current CPU% level of process 4.89341. Continue?” If I click on continue the music starts & plays normal. Wonder what this pop up means & how to get rid of it? Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 25, 2018, 10:16:54 am Hello Arvind,
OK, Good ! In Settings (Memory section) there's something like "Garbage collect". Flip the state of that and the message won't appear. If you did that previously as well, it is plainly that and solved. If you're sure you never touched it, try to imagine what has changed since the previous 14393.0 "install". Notice the size I referred to yeaterday. And btw, if this happens once a day this is not a problem at all. Or, if it happens one time just after a boot, also no problem. But otherwise it shouldn't be there "continuously" or otherwise I will tell you to get an "on par" PC. But as you know, you already have that ... So maybe something was changed. Best regards, Peter Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: arvind on February 25, 2018, 11:49:30 am Hi Peter,
I think I found the problem. The memory organisation was set to mixed instead of straight contiguous. Thanks for your help & support. Best regards, Arvind Title: Re: Music stops playing Post by: PeterSt on February 25, 2018, 12:31:45 pm Yes Arvind, that will matter !
Not that I ever heard of it, but surely enough many people brought forward this issue as you did today, but you are the only one of which I could tell that it couldn't be the PC. If I only remember it for the next time ... Thanks and enjoy again ! Peter |
