Post by: coliny on December 21, 2017, 08:59:00 am
Recently started using Volume setting other than 0 but volume setting goes back to 0 after reboot.

Hi Colin,

The last time you came up with this, it was some kind of pilot error. Should be in the forum somewhere. And I did not change anything ...

One thing :
I think it is so that when you use XXHighEnd to reboot (rightclick on Stop) the settings from that very moment are not saved. I recall I said similar the last time (maybe 3 months ago).

?

Regards,
Peter

Hi Peter

Its not me I never make same mistake twice (well hardly ever) haha.

All other setting changes are being saved.

I normally shutdown via STOP, just tried closing XX & shutting down via Windows but Volume is still not saved.

REgards

Hi Colin,

Is it really only the Volume then ?
(hint : this is very hard to imagine)

I should add :

It is quite crucial for me to know whether it is the Volume only or "everything" (like Q1 and SFS to name two others) because either is a very different situation to look for.

I'd actually say that if this is the Volume only, this always has been so.

N.b.: It is difficult to test in practice these days, as I work from RAM as a whole (for the OS) and installing a RAM Disk on top of that is not a funny thing to do.

Hello,
with the last XXHE version installation I probably made a mistake and I had the same problem. Well, the volume issue for sure. I tried several things and I don't remember exactly how I solved it but I think that was XXDATA folder location related ( or maybe Copy settings to...) Sorry for the vagueness ( I think I need more RAM lately  :shy:). I hope it's a clue there.

Thank you Maxi. The problem may very well reside in that area.

Kind regards,
Peter

Just checked again & Q changes are still saved, just volume that is not changed.
At some time in past it must have worked otherwise it would be booting at default installation volume.

Same here ... everything comes back as saved except volume changes.

No matter how things are saved (manual, reboot, etc.).

No real issue but can be annoying if you do not want to set the volume to the desired volume each time after a reboot.

Hi Peter

I think it is XXVL.dat  it is not saved from A:..... to C:.......

Thanks for all your work this year especially MQA which is sounding good now, I've gone back to adaptive by the way.

Hope TIDAL survives

Have a good Christmas

Colin

Colin, wow, your are GOOD !
I say this, especially because I wonder whether I would have have found this.

One secret : it will be XXVX.dat. But I will copy all three of them.

Thank you VERY MUCH.
Merry Christmas,
Peter
