Title: Room correction with filter option Post by: Bigear on July 26, 2016, 11:02:33 am Hi Peter,
lately I'm playing with an open baffle speaker, using a wide-band field coil unit. One of the issue's of open baffle designs is that there is a strong interaction between speaker and room design which (in combination with the use a a wide-band speaker unit) normally results in a lack of bass below 60 Hz or so. I was wondering if the filter option could be used as a room correction. Any thought on that and on how this could be implemented? No, not possible really with the Custom Filter. At this moment you best option might be Dirac Live. Don't ask me how it will sound through that, but it will do the job for you. A small word of caution : In my experience such an application (which in effect comes down to the boosting of the bass) is not really going to work well and the bass will be coloured. Of course this is for you to judge, but might you run into that and blame Dirac Live, then most probably it is not that doing it. It merely will be about that it is against nature what you try to achieve (dipole stuff). N.b.: I can imagine your thoughts : and what about your open baffle Orelo MKII then, PeterSt ? Answer : this is open baffle all right, but is is also a horn and it is no dipole at all. I hope you get it nicely going ! Peter |
