Title: SpeedTeasing Post by: PeterSt on May 20, 2016, 11:32:22 am Hi all, I notice something which I can't understand (this seems to happen more often, lately :swoon:); It is not always easy to see, but I'd bet quite some money that a very same PC, but with Linear Power Supply, is much faster than with the standard switcher. ?? It feels like more continuous power is not squeezing (throttling) down the processor speed or something. But I find it hard to believe that such a thing really can happen (the throttling down for this reason). Still it would be true that an SMPS has a response time for providing (more) power; I read about this once (of course forgot the real merit by now) but if a PSU has a response time, I'd say that it really can be so that the consumer "officially" must be able to wait before that supply is ready for the (new, fast) task. ??? Thanks, Peter |
