Ok, so first you are going to connect an iPad to the Music Server PC. Agreed ?

On the Music Server PC :

1. Start Explorer.
2. RightClick on ThisPC (or whatever it is named);
3. Choose Properties;
4. In the left top, click Remote Settings;
5. Check Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer;
6. In the bottom section select Allow remote connections to this computer;
7. Click OK.

8. Start a command prompt (cmd fron Run under the Start Button);
9. Type : IPConfig [enter]
10. Write down the IP Address listed behind "Autoconfiguration IPv4 address" (or similar, but something with IPv4 in it, not IPv6).

On the iPad :
1. Find RDP (just from Windows !) in the Apple Store and install it (it is free).
2. I must find out myself at this moment. Haha. But if you are familiar with that part, use the IP Address you wrote down under 10 above.

There's a little bit more to this for proper settings and scaling, but let's start with this.

OK, i`m on the Ipad with the Windows RDP app.

Under "Gateway" i have the IPv4 address from the Music PC

But now i don`t know what to do?

There should be nothing under the Gateway section. And what I see myself over here is this (but I already have a "desktop" created) :

There's an account and it has a Username and Password (probably you already finished that step as it is above "Gateway"). Notice that this will be the Account Name and Password of the Music Server PC.
This is actually all I filled in and we can see that later by means of the "service wheel" in the top left of the general screen. Now :

Once you have this desktop, hold your finger on it until at the bottom right corner a service wheel appears. Click that.

Now you see PC Name at the top, and it is there where the IP Address goes.
The second line is the Account Name you filled in (see by text above).

Then lastly in that screen there's Settings and in there I again have no Gateway (possibly you are stuck at this moment right on that screen - hard for me to tell).
Sound : Play on device.
Leave mouse buttons as they are unless you are left handed.
I have Admin Mode switched on.

I think that should be all.

Peter

Hi Tore,

Sadly I have no idea.

What you could do in this stage, is trying the same with your Audio PC and Music Server PC. Possibly that brings some insight plus it should be slightly easier to do. And for that you can indeed use this :

What about all this? http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3213.0

Btw, I just looked in there and my eye fell on the "Password is required" ... do you use a password in the Music Server PC ? you must, otherwise it does not work.

The topics 1-10 must now be performed on the Audio PC and the RDC screen (see in that Tutorial) is to be set up on the Music Server PC.

If you can get this running, you may have a better feeling about the other connection, which is then just iPad stuff (but a bit depening on how your LAN is organised).
If possible, use a direct connection from Audio PC to Music Server PC (and not via a router/switch/etc.). This is not a real requirement but it is more easy to do and in the end faster as well.

Regards,
Peter

:smirk:

Tore, that explains it.
I am not even sure whether you now talk about the Music Server PC -> Audio PC connection, but at least the iPad -> Music Server PC won't work because of this.

Anyway, now people know why I am always saying that Home is no good; No RDC possible ...

Stupid stuff ...

Peter, the other PC have W10 Pro 32 bit.
Is 32 bit a problem?

Tore

Tore,

Unless I forget something (and that can happen !) I don't think so. But keep in mind that you need XXHighEnd 2.04c for that (for Tidal). Thus :

Download and unzip the main .rar.
After that download and unzip the smaller 2.04c .rar over that.

Side note : I think I know quite a lot about the W10 sh*t and licensing. But I really don't know what happens when you have a 32 bit version and want to upgrade to 64 bit. It should be allowed ... But literally upgrading would not be possible.
Anyway notice that Microsoft servers will know about your W10 license (assumed it is activated). So would you wipe the disk in that PC and next install a new W10 version (like 64 bits now) you would automaticaly be activated.
I am not saying that you must try this, but if you like you can and it should be free.

Kind regards,
Peter

I have problems with unzipping XX 2.04, i get error messages from winrar

Is it 32bit that is the problem?

Tore

Title: Re: Remote Control + RAM-OS
Post by: Tore on March 02, 2016, 09:05:11 am
I did a winrar update and the unzipping is OK

The problem now is that XX 2.04 will not start playing (paypal)
XX message is "lower SFS" (error 03)

The only Sound Device to choose is S/PDIF Audio + HDMI Audio

Well, did you set the SFS and SFS Max at 4 or so ?

Yes, and i think i have tested everything  :sad:

Set the Memory Type to Mixed (not a Contiguous type) - that has to help.
And you don't use it for real playing anyway, right ?

Title: Re: Remote Control + RAM-OS
Post by: Tore on March 02, 2016, 10:58:24 am
I don`t use it for real playing

I have tested mixed again, message : unsupported format

SFS= 4 , no upsampling, DAC setting 16bit, 44,1KHz

Tore,

I already told you how to use it with the MoBo sound device. See back in the topic.
Or ?

How do i pick MoBo sound device?

Have you seen this: The only Sound Device to choose is S/PDIF Audio + HDMI Audio (in XX)

Title: Re: Remote Control + RAM-OS
Post by: PeterSt on March 02, 2016, 12:32:16 pm
Tore, that is the MoBo (Motherboard) sound device ...

I don't know where I said it, but it is easiest like this :

Find a 24/96 file and upsample 1x.
This must play.

Maybe 16/44.1 also plays with Upsample 2x.

Peter

I removed the HDMI cabel from PC to screen and it is working  :)

Title: Re: Remote Control + RAM-OS
Post by: PeterSt on March 02, 2016, 12:34:26 pm
Here I said it - and it was especially for you :

Good. ;)

We will get there now ! just step by step (if that's OK with you). Now :

That motherboard will have an audio device too. Select it (if not already) and try whether it works with 2x upsampling and a random album. Don't forget to switch off "Is NOS1". No need to get real sound from it, as long as the time cursor starts running. Just Attended (well, like how you do it always).

If you keep on receiving error messages it will be about your MoBo supporting 48KHz "base" only. You may then want to switch on "96 Khz or192 KHz Only" (in DAC Settings).
Or find a 24/96 album (and maybe not upsample now).

Play a bit as usual.
Go to PayPal, as usual.

Ok, pay attention please :

1. Are you trying to login from the iPad to the Music Server PC ?
or
2. Are you trying to login from the iPad to the Audio PC (XXHighEnd PC) ?

Tada ...

Can you tell me what that password problem was ?
Just for the next one (or the next time ;)).

Title: Re: Remote Control + RAM-OS
Post by: Tore on March 02, 2016, 03:44:35 pm
First i made a username and password inside RD Client on Ipad.
When i was trying to connect from Ipad i was asked for username and password. Then i was using that username and password, but it don`t work.

Title: Re: Remote Control + RAM-OS
Post by: PeterSt on March 02, 2016, 03:52:34 pm
Ok, but what solved it in the end ?

Title: Re: Remote Control + RAM-OS
Post by: Tore on March 02, 2016, 04:06:25 pm
Then i deleted username and password in RD Client
I made a password to the Music-PC
When i connect from RD Client in Ipad i`m asked for username and password. Username=PC-name   Password=PC-password

The only thing to put in RD Client is the IPv4 adress

Hey Tore,

Next step is Music Server PC to Audio PC.
I talked about that a couple of posts back. But instead you got iPad to Music Server PC running, which is also needed, so, good !

Hi Peter!

Now i have two PC`s to connect on the Ipad RDC, Music PC and Audio PC.
No problem to connect to Music PC.
When i try to connect to Audio PC the message from RDC is: check that PC is set to Remote

Audio PC is connected with direct connection to Music PC
I have been reading this: http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3213.0

Hi there Tore - so you make progress ! And almost done, as it looks like.

This is your aim :

1. Make connection from Music Server PC to Audio PC.
-> So now the Music Server PC could control the Audio PC;
-> This would happen when you go to the other floor and type on the Music Server PC's keyboard.
-> Let it be like this and proceed with step #2, below.

2. Make connection from iPad to Music Server PC.
-> So now you can control the Music Server PC.
BUT
-> The music Server PC is still controlling the Audio PC.
-> Thus you are controlling the Audio PC by means of the tablet (and via the Music Server PC).

Works ??
If it works, the next step is to scale them all correctly (so that circles remain circles and not become eggs).

Hi Tore,

Read back in this topic (from bottom to top) and you will run into it. I told it two times in this topic alone, a third time in that other topic (there it was the first time I told about it). All addressed to you.

If you have a specific problem you can talk about it. But such a question "how do I do it ?" ... that is too much for me.

Peter
