Title: Killing me softly Post by: acg on February 13, 2016, 03:21:06 pm Hi Peter,
Do you remember when w8 was being fleshed out in XXHE and one of the tracks that was highlighting changes due to different settings was Roberta Flack "Killing Me Softly With His Song"? I remember those reverberant backings changing all over the place and I thought at that time that we eventually settled on something that gave some pretty good results. At that time I listened to it a lot and have strong memories of no matter what changes were made it never quite sounded right. Have you played it lately? I played it today and was completely blown away at how different and ...right... it all sounds now with the MusicPC >> direct ethernet connection >> AudioPC/RAM-OS>> Intona. Flabbergasted... Thank-you. Cheers, Anthony Title: Re: Killing me softly Post by: PeterSt on February 13, 2016, 03:41:23 pm Hi Anthony,
Sure I recall it. Quote no matter what changes were made it never quite sounded right. Although I never tried to let it sound right all over, it would be true that something was amiss with it, which I easily dedicated to it being too old (ahum). Last time I played it is not all that long ago and from that, I recall that it didn't do me as much as I expected from it (expectations were too high), but must have been before the Intona. Will try her again tonight ! :) Regards, Peter Title: Re: Killing me softly Post by: acg on February 13, 2016, 10:35:12 pm The sound of the tape hiss (I assume that is what the sound is) is now separated from the backing vocals. I think that is a major reason why it sounds so different to me now...the vocalists are clearly their own entities and not flavoured by the hiss.
That is my theory. Title: Re: Killing me softly Post by: PeterSt on February 14, 2016, 09:57:02 am At some stage I thought to dig her up. But then I forgot ...
Will try again tonight ! Peter Title: Re: Killing me softly Post by: PeterSt on February 15, 2016, 08:29:22 am So ...
Sounded even more "new" than I recall from earlier. But I also know again what's wrong with it ... At roughly 2/3 of it there's the uhh ohh uhh ohh part and this is completely oversteered as we say (more signal level than the analogue recording means can take). Quote which I easily dedicated to it being too old (ahum). So the person behind the wheel (unintended pun) must have been not the best ? I never noticed anything from tape hiss ? Regards, Peter |
