Title: RAM-OS disk WARNING Post by: manisandher on January 27, 2016, 01:25:40 pm Since getting Win10586.0 to run from RAM, I've experienced two effects:
1. I'm listening to music for waaaay longer than usual 2. I'm listening at slightly higher volumes than usual I've now developed a slight ringing in one of my ears. Nothing serious, but a little annoying. Will it stop me listening to music? Of course not, but I hope it doesn't get any worse. You have been warned. Mani. I have noticed that I'm squeezing in some extra listening time every evening, and when my wife says she's going to bed early, I sport a sly smile and back to the basement I go! I am also listening at a higher volume, anywhere from 1.5-4.5db louder and I think it is a direct result of the lower distortion from the RAM-OS setup. Recordings that were once a little grating after a certain volume, are now not only listenable at higher volume but more "real". I was listening to "Eric Clapton Unplugged" last night and WOW it was really like I was sitting in the live venue!! I just cannot stop listening. The sound quality is totally addictive and seductive. I keep sneaking into the listening room during the day for sneaky listens. It is affecting my work output!!! There are albums that I really struggled to listen to before that are simply transformed - i.e. electronica, dance pop. Really how is that? for sure they are the worst of the worst recording quality but somehow they are utterly transformed. But then there are genuinely good recordings that are simply breath taking. The sound becomes detached from the speakers and there are real musicians in the room typically behind the speakers. I have played what were before pretty dismal tracks both recordings and musically that I would never listen to only to find myself reluctant to take them off. I have to say that I never really would have thought this level of performance possible from any electrical based system. There is something so right about the music. Old favorites are coming into the listening session. My latest problem is it is 5:50am here and too early to crank it up before work (sigh) but I plan on leaving work early again. :whistle:
I even find myself not complaining about bad Adele recordings LOL :innocent: |
