Title: Boot Questions RAM Disk
Post by: Gerard on January 21, 2016, 03:53:05 pm
Ok....
I have booted the disk and i have music. No RAM for now but just BASE Un Minimise.

Sound: SCAAAARY sh*t.  ;)

But that is not it.

In the Topic Unboxing the RAM Disk you say this

Notice that here it shows that 10586 is the current Boot, but in your (first Boot) case it will show 10565.

My first boot. Meaning doing nothing and just let it go boot. Goes into 10586. That is ok???

Gerard,

I moved this from the Chatter board to XXHighEnd support. In the end it is just XXHighEnd.

Was this expected ... no, not really. But at making the next Tutorial I just ran into something which looks like a cache issue - not sure yet do.
So Mr Guinny Pig ... if you don't mind ...

If you start XXHighEnd in there (10586), do you see an all empty XXHighEnd or do you see things from me (like music data which is not yours). I just wonder ...

Peter

Ok good.
And my caching issue was a ghost as well (as I just found out).

If you rightclick on the Stop button and click the Boot Into, does all look as expected ? (also see that Tutorial)
What I mean is : is 10586.0 shown as the current boot, or is it 10565 TRIAL ?

That looks just as it should. 10586.0

Then all I can say is that I can't tell how that happened, but it should be my bad. Also, possibly this is not the same for everybody.

So anyone, please, what do you see at first boot ?

Thanks,
Peter

Ok, let's wait for a few others for what they see ...
Everything should be fine anyway, but it is always good to understand what is going on (and I don't, yet :dntknw:).

Gerard,

I am glad that Alain understands, but it beats me what you are talking about;
you changed your response; prior to that I understood and agreed. But now ?

It's not that I understood all, but I will wait to see it by myself. Remembering what Gerard said will get all its means when I will access my system tomorrow evening :)

Hi Peter,

For me everything worked as mentioned in your notes, so the 10565 trial version first.
I installed all necessary drivers etc in both 10565 and 10586.0, booted in MinOs later RAMOS, everything went smoothly for both :-)

Great work!

No impressions yet, to late to have a listen.

Next step: music on LAN.

Best regards,
Diede
PS: I was just in time to pull out the internet connection, once I disabled Windows updates I downloaded some drivers ect ...

Thank you for this feedback, Diede !

Gerard, what I was thinking about last night ... Can it be so that you touched some buttons when you first booted ? I mean, the time out for booting is set to 2 seconds, and if within that time the keyboard is touched, the boot process will be "stuck" (intendedly) in the Windows (!) Boot Menu and then it depends what you choose ...

I know, it could be far sought, but especially because it worked as intended for Diede as he just explained, I can't understand how it can be different for you.
Notice though that very theoretically it can because after each "clone" of the disk I had/have to apply some adjustments (using that Boot Menu of XXHighEnd) and without real notice I can have denoted 10586.0 in your case as the first-next Boot.

Btw, there are two green stickers on your disk; there can be a marking on them (think a left-hand and a right-hand sticker, when you hold the disk so that you see them on the top);
Any marking visible ?

Thanks,
Peter
