Maybe this helps some, as I see it is too easy to make the mistake to get yourself a nice NAS while next you need to know more than you do to get it going.

DON'T.
Use an old or cheap PC instead. Unless you really know all in's and out's of PC's and Windows.

Main points are these :

All NASes work differently with all their nice (ahum) gadgets.

They highly depend on "standards" which we may NOT comply to.

We hardly can comply to such standards, when using Windows 10 which is "on PC alone" difficult enough to begin with.

Because your NAS will be a different one from those of others, nobody will be able to really help out when you have problems.

Please notice that I wrote this, because people seem to misinterpret my saying that "for best SQ, these days the music is to be on a PC elsewhere or a NAS";
This is correct.
But the PC will work, while the NAS may not be able to, regarding our "conditions".

Additionally

What has been said explicitly before, is that you won't be able to use the NAS to Prepare Tidal Streams. And out of all it is *that* what you want (when you like to use Tidal). So you need a normal PC for that, again running XXHighEnd (outside of the original license, free for your Household).
