I get error messages saying location needs to be a folder for coverart reasons, I click away these messages and playback works with coverart !. Messages appear every time play starts & stops.

my music root is \\colin-pc\music\

Is it the first time that you used qualifiers like that ?
Or do you think it is 2.03 related ?
W10 related ?

Please notice that I always try to theoretically have this right, but never (can) test it really; I use Drive Letters.

Otherwise - and looking closer - I think indeed one level of folders is lacking. So it should be :

\\colin-pc\music\Jazz\Adele\
where the music files are in. And not :
\\colin-pc\music\Adele\
Also not :
\\colin-pc\Jazz\Adele\

Does this help perhaps ?
N.b.: It really will go wrong "somewhere", assumed the message is justified. But it depends what you do (later).

Its my first setup of network folder for music.

It all works the messages are just an irritation for me.

There are subfolders also for artist & album

With \\colin-pc\music\ as music root clicking L shows artist folder and then album

If the message appears it is for a reason.

Can you give me an example of an album which gives you the message ? Like I gave the Adele example ? Don't forget to tell where the tracks reside.

PS: I work with the network and have no messages - obviously. So it is only a matter of working out what's going on.

When I select \\colin-pc\music\ as music root I get message "Sorry but music root must be a folder for cover art reasons"

Example \\colin-pc\music\barb jungr\love me tender\

In attended mode it and other albums play without further messages.

In unattended mode I get message after alt-p "music root must be a folder" when play finished get the message again.

It happens with all album folders irrespective of whether they contain cover art or not.

Keep in mind : this is definitely wrong and WILL go wong (later, depending on what you do).


That though, is not justified.
For now, can you please try the below and let me know whether
a. this helps
b. this works for you.

Go to the Audio PC (the one where you use XXHighEnd for playing music) - start Explorer, RightClick Network in the left pane and choose Map Network Drive.
The remainder will be clear to you.

So now you have a Drive Letter and you shouldn't have the problem, assumed it is my bad with that qualifier stuff.
If this solves the problem, I know what to test/do.

Hi Peter

When I try to map drive I get message "you do not have permission to access"

Can't find a way past this.

Music PC has the right share setting I think.

I may have messed it up but can't find a way to delete the network and start again.
