Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: christoffe on August 06, 2015, 08:32:12 pm Hi,
info for the guys who did not had the chance to get build 10074. In RTM build 10240 the Cortana program was nagging me after the deactivation all the time. Cortana was still running and occupying RAM (to be seen via the task manager) Found now a procedure in the following link, which works. See Reply 10 http://www.tenforums.com/software-apps/9491-there-way-completely-disable-cortana.html Joachim Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: christoffe on August 08, 2015, 06:07:16 pm Hi,
under W10 build 10240 the "OS min" creates a black screen after the restart on my laptop, and therefore the services must be shut down manually. Under this link is a good table (advise) with all ..... . http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-windows-10-service-configurations/ Joachim Edit: found the above link in the CA forum under software - "Windows 10 optimization script - A community effort?" - third post. Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: PeterSt on August 08, 2015, 06:19:13 pm You agree that everybody - including yourself - who runs into troubles is directed to you, right ?
 Peter Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: christoffe on August 08, 2015, 06:38:29 pm You agree that everybody - including yourself - who runs into troubles is directed to you, right ? Peter Huh, aha, W10 build 10240 is running without any hiccups on the laptop since days. The requirement is, XXH 2.02 and a RAM disc program shall be installed on the AUDIO PC only. The keyword is AUDIO PC, no other programs shall be installed. I'm not using a tablet, so the laptop is a "stand alone unit". If somebody will install/run XXH 2.02 on a laptop or PC (with W10 -10240) with the a.m. preconditions questions are welcome. Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: christoffe on August 09, 2015, 10:51:57 am Hi,
attached you will find a reliable program to shut down/disable the Defender within W10 build 10240 for sure. Joachim EDIT: Please download the "NoDefender.zip" file mentioned under the link with Reply#8 Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: PeterSt on August 09, 2015, 12:47:15 pm Don't do this, because you can't tell what it does.
Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: christoffe on August 09, 2015, 12:53:35 pm Don't do this, because you can't tell what it does. This program is frome here, and we can see the result with the task manager under Services. http://winaero.com/blog/nodefender-disable-windows-defender-in-windows-10-with-few-clicks/ Joachim Edit: Using NoDefender, we can re-enable it later if we want. The processor load decreases by 2%. Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: esimms86 on August 12, 2015, 06:28:41 pm A most interesting thread at the CA website:
http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f11-software/windows-10-optimization-script-community-effort-25361/#post454265 Given the expiration date of 10074 I've become increasingly afraid that Peter(if he resigns himself to do so) may eventually have to do something similar with Windows 10 before offerring an XXHE PC hard drive upgrade. It does look like the automatic Windows updates can be blocked, however. Esau, you certainly are correct there. That is, if you mean to say that what has been done to 10074 also must be done for RTM, officially. Anyway, one of the reasons that this upgrade disk is not there yet. Regards, Peter Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: Jud on August 13, 2015, 09:07:41 pm Esau, you certainly are correct there. Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: christoffe on August 17, 2015, 04:43:29 pm Hi,
since the “Minimize OS” procedure is not working under W10 (build 10240) on my laptop, I bought “Fidelizerpro“ and everything is working flawlessly ( with “no core appointment” in XXH 2.02), and, what a great sound. Never heard these details of the cymbals and snare drums on my system. When somebody faces the same problem under W10 (build 10240) this program is a strong recommendation. Joachim P.S. The conversion from FLAC to WAV (to be seen with bigger 96KHz files) is more slowly than before. (other CPU/core balance via “MMCSS”?) Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: PeterSt on August 18, 2015, 07:49:11 am Hi Joachim,
I don't think you see that you created your first problem yourself by being ignorant and start using a build other than 10074. That is, I don't recall any cry for help around a problem with 10074. You just did it (me telling a 100 times everybody should not). From a comes b comes c and now you, apparently, think it is wise to advise people to use other tweaking means to which XXHighEnd does not anticipate. So your next problem will be ? ... Don't you see that currently I am dealing with you(r) posts already 9:1 for no reason other than you continuing something of which I say you should not ? You can all do what you want but do not expect me to help. I just can't because you're applying stuff of which you don't know what it does. And, I won't even know whether the problem is caused by your fine tweaks or not. They may or may not have been applied by others and I can't tell and always have to sort it out So what to do ? In one of my last posts I gave the hint that "I just as well could stop". Think about this, because I will HAVE TO. You are messing it up for the others ... Regards, Peter PS: You may not see it, but I see an idiot "tweaking" topic in the first place, which other people may not understand. Especially not people who are new. PPS: You will can the last word - then I will close this topic. Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: christoffe on August 18, 2015, 09:57:09 am Hi Peter,
thanx for your post. The beginning with W10 build 10074 was not very successful for me and I stopped with the “trials” after this post. http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3286.msg35516#msg35516 The installation of XXH 2.02 on the RTM W10 build 10240 was “a piece of cake” on an “AUDIO ALONE PC” and the sound was very good. What failed was the conversion to “Minimize OS” where I ended up with a) a creation of a restore point was not possible with XXH (this note came from XXH) and b) with a black screen and a white mouse pointer. Due to the situation that the “Minimze OS” procedure failed on my system, I fumbled with the “audio optimization” of W10 by shutting down services etc., but with my limited experience there would never be an amazing SQ on my system. You mentioned with Reply#21 on the forum that it is not your intention to make double work with the “Minimize OS” procedure for the RMT W10 ( http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3303.msg35693#msg35693 ), and so a search in the internet started and ended with Fidelizer Pro. This program is a replacement of your “Minimize OS” procedure, works flawlessly, and I have the best sound ever on my system. Very analog without any digital glare. This program handles the “core appointment” differently, and the system (OS) slows down (with full intention) a little in favour for the SQ, and that is noticeable. The software W10 build 10240 + XXH 2.02 + RAMdisc + foreign OS minimizer is running without any problems on my “audio only PC” and the SQ exceeds my expectations. (no remote control from another PC + music replay in attended mode only) I do believe a lot audiophiles are waiting for a XXH update for RTM W10. See Reply#10 - http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3305.msg35741;topicseen#msg35741 The main message is, XXH 2.02 creates the best SQ on my system ever. Joachim Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks Post by: PeterSt on August 18, 2015, 10:40:55 am Thank you for your extended elaboration, Joachim.
I think the (main) problem is that you call it "works flawlessly" while actually nothing works. So what you (have to) do next is apply all kind of unnecessary stuff to get it to work for what you think is OK (for your ears - which is fine) and next advise it to others. This, while all conflicts which what is already in there. And seriously, it does not matter whether it is about defender, updates, eliminating services or MMCSS (and all more, mentioned so far) - this is all explicitly dealt with by XXHighEnd THUS per different means. Sorry about the emphasized "thus" but I obviously know. Maybe an example : How can I guide someone to Group Policy stuff to eliminate Defender, while first something else has eliminated the whole option from there ? (this is about Esau's link). Please keep in mind that the Tutorials are there already. No such things as Tutorials upon a STANDARD OS can exist if people first tear it down per various (unknown !) means. One other example which is NOT meant to make it personal, but to indicate how difficult things can be, which not everybody can see, including yourself : You are as far as I can tell the only one who could not get the 1.04 driver going. You said you applied all. But you did not and instead skipped the XXHighEnd settings at first. I know (your system shows that). This, btw, is when I told you that "sequences" are as important as applying the subjects involved in the first place. So I had to make another "tweak" for people like you (and hey, this is thus not about you - it can happen, apparently). But what nobody knows/sees (as said, including you) is that I can only build these tweaks upon tweaks (the 1.04 driver is a tweak to begin with) if I can trust the base of the system. Do you seriously think that I could help (you) with determining what has happened to the system if first another means of "MinOS" has been applied while we don't even know what that all is (100s of things) ? So all in the best spirit, which most certainly counts for you (Joachim) as well. I am 100% confident about that. But you must please see through that this is nothing to now advise to others, while it is based upon something nobody has. I hope it is clear now. Quote You mentioned with Reply#21 on the forum that it is not your intention to make double work with the “Minimize OS” procedure for the RMT W10 You didn't understand or possibly read half only : W10 RTM in its 10240 build is more flawed that 10074. This was totally clear to the whole world. It does not make any sense to again do work for something which is even more flawed. It first needs another build which works better. Why are you so persistent ? Peter Title: Re: Windows 10 Tweaks - last reply Post by: christoffe on August 18, 2015, 04:49:53 pm One other example which is NOT meant to make it personal, but to indicate how difficult things can be, which not everybody can see, including yourself : You are as far as I can tell the only one who could not get the 1.04 driver going. Yes, nice. But it doesn't work. I saw it myself in your PC, and Gerard too, tells about a second time. Paul I don't know, but I already don't care any more. When a newer build is around the corner I will be happy to hear about it, so I can investigate the decency-status of it. Ok ? Best regards and thanks ! Peter |
