XXHighEnd

I'm just about to launch with a Samsung tablet into the XXhighend remote  world. Can I not link directly with the main computer without using another computer inbetween. I have your USb dongles but never used. I'm not going for the ultimate in sound at this stage.

Not trying new XXhighend yet. Have a new server coming.

Depending on the situation it can be correct that you need that other PC (like I do it). So you are using WiFi now ? that is OK.

What could not be OK all the way is that you are doing this with the old version. I mean, things changed (for what's available in MinOS) and I can't check the old situation any more. But if you get it running, that's fine of course.

No not using WiFi, in fact not using at all just bought on Monday. I downloaded your new version but it didn't load. Does it only work from remote from start? Perhaps my I3 laptop is not up to it? think perhaps I should wait for new I7 server. Probably need to read your instructions and digest.

Didn't load ? It just should. Can you be more specific about what you see happening ?

No Remote as such is in order at first.

No real instructions to read either. Just start XXHighEnd.exe ...

I downloaded Xx2 unzipped into new folder within Xxhighend folder.

Clicked on xx.exe and it started installing. I clicked run on all install boxes except the very last security warning box, which nothing happened when I clicked run. I clicked out and then warning XXengine 3 did not start.
When I loaded Xx186a it acted as if it had been a new download.
Tried this several times. Should I delete the old Xx186a version then try to run new install?

I got my new server today so forget laptop issues.
I will start from scratch with Xxhighend 2.00 on this new machine Saturday. Brand new so will need licenses. I presume does this mean two required?

Only one (new) license is required.

Hi Peter no luck with new server loading Xxhighend same problem as laptop.

Gets to Open file security warning(Change wp.exe) I press run button and nothing happens.

When I click away a screen comes up with Initialization failed at Phase 121.

Hi Robert,

Can it be the case that you use bitdefender ? I think I heard similar from someone else. However, that started for him when I installed 1.186-a and I think you already used that. So next guess could be that you activated bitdefender after you had 1.186-a running and that made things all right.

So if all my guesses are correct then the remedie could be to deactivate bit defender, install 2.00-a again and see whether that helps.

Btw, no antivirus etc. is good for sound !

The reason for this to happen is that XXHighEnd is not allowed to be installed in c:\Program Files\ and it was.

There is a check for that in the program but apparantly that check fails. Sorry for that !

Gosh I'm so happy you solved the problem. Funny the basic things you forget. Well my laptop has the same issue but works fine.
So much going on in our lives easy to forget the basics!!!!!!

Robert - What is worse is that I have been working on the very same issue (but someone else) in a dozen of emails and could not solve it. But that other person of course never tells about where he installed it and I assume it *can* not be in Program Files because it is protected against that. :scratching:

But seeing yours (TeamViewer) and within 6 seconds I saw the issue and 60 seconds later it was all solved.

Esau - just don't install in Program Files but in a self created root (and sub) folder.


Btw the problem has been solved in the program (but I won't make a new version/patch of that) and it is really ridiculous :

Envision that "Program files" can be anything in another language. This is created by Windows and thus in your own language. At least that is what can be expected for such folder names and for sure others do. I have English so I can't even check the difference. Anyway there's an official command that presents the normal English name to the programmer. And while using that command would be the best way to do it (e.g. check whether you try to install XXHighEnd in "Program Files") it reports wrongly. So for fun you could look in your root on c: and you will see \Program Files\ and \Program Files (x86)\. The latter is about 64 bit stuff if the OS is 64 bits and the NOT 64 bit stuff would be in there. Think back door solutions from MS here ...

So when you put XXHighEnd in \Program Files\ (notice that XXHighEnd is 32 Bits) then this command reports that it is in \Program Files (x86)\.  Well, this is not "Program Files" so I (XXHighEnd) don't reject it. But still other things go wrong and this is known from the start.

\Program Files\ is for Windows-installed programs and not to dunk in stuff ourselves.

This is a perfect example of how things can not be tested some times. So if I work in English then I don't even bother to check the code because it should be "Program Files" anyway, but would I have done that check back at the time - I used a 32 bits OS (which we all did back in the days) then it still would have been OK because no \Program Files (x86)\ existed (exists) in the 32 bits OS.
The bug is not mine but is Bill Gate's who blindly reports the program to be in the 32 bits folder because it *is* a 32 bits program. The bug is Bill Gate's another time because he allows us to dunk programs in \Program Files\ which does not work out outside an official install. The bug is mine because I too allowed to "install" in program files, but this was just bad testing. Well, sort of, because back at the time no "(x86)" existed.
